Headlight switch with integrated dimmer button

Featured Replies

Does anyone have any information for this Skoda Octavia >98 headlight switch which has a small button integrated into the actual headlight switch to adjust the dashboard dimmer (instead of a stand alone separate switch).

I am looking for the picture from any wiring schematics that shows the internal connections. They are usually shown in the diagram.

I know the dimmer connection Pin 17 (58d) is an output on this switch, but is it connected internally to the fused supply for the switch or is the output fused afterwards before going around to the dashlights?

Also, is PIn 16 (58) used at all?

I'm just trying trying to retro fit this - my lights at the moment have a separate dimmer switch.

It gets power from Pin 16 via fusebox and then the dimmed output from thr rheostat goes INTO Pin 17, so subtley different as you can see.

Thanks for any info!

Hi,

I 'm interesting in putting this switch.

Do you have the part code of that light switch and did you resolve the connection issue you had?

Thanks.

I found some wiring diagrams (see another post I made with links) which shows the internal wiring of the switch.

See here: http://briskoda.net/octavia-i/octavia-manuals-some-links/143673/#post1673651

The dimmer output seems to go to some sort of relay (precise function unknown at this time). Still trying to sort that out.

If you are interested there are four different switches, some with red illumination and some with green illumination.

1U0 941 531 01C - red illumination with rear fog only

1U0 941 531 A 01C - red illumination with front and rear fogs

3B0 941 531 01C - green illumination with rear fog only

3B0 941 531 A 01C - green illumination with front and rear fogs

Thanks graeme86

I have already downloaded these files.

I 'll ask local Skoda parts shop if they have this part 1U0 941 531 A 01C

Then I 'll look for the diagram to see how to make it work.

Is it working for you?

I was toying with the idea of putting one in my Golf....haven't proceeded yet.

That switch has the rheostat PWM chip inside it so it should run the dimmed dash lights like the separate rheostat does....I just can't work out why they have that extra relay in the circuit...the Golf doesn't have one.

Plus I will end up with a hole where the existing Golf rheostat is!

I was thinking I could use that switch for the dashlights and use the original rheo for some separately dimmed footlights (like the new Audis have).

Mine haven't got potentiometer for the dash board.

That's why I 'm looking for ideas

First idea is to use these parts

1J0 972 723 6pin Plug

000 979 133 extra Cable for pin 58

1U0 941 333 D 01C double potentiometer

Second idea is to leave the already existing single potentiometer for the lights and change the light switch with this one 1U0 941 531 A 01C
