Brake Problems - Please help!

Featured Replies

ok so when i got my octavia it had sh*te brakes so after some investigation i discovered that both rear wheel cylinders had blown!! i changed these and put a new set of shoes on..

bled the brakes a few times but it feels like its leaking somewhere? its as if someone is opening a bleed nipple when i press the brake...

my question is : Do you have to bleed the ABS unit and if so how??

if not it must be the master cylinder - which will suck!

does the pedal sink to the floor slowly ?

if it does , i would say its possibly normal ,

but if its very spongy and poor feel when braking whilst driving it'll need bleeding again

the brakes are har as when she's not running.. start her up and brakes feel good but if you gold the pressure down it will then sink all the way to the floor....

dont think its normal for brakes to do this as under heavy braking they mwould fade away...

my Fabia VRS does this , sinks to the floor when my foot is held on the pedal , engine running and stationary , normal operation on diesel engined VAG products a far as i know , Ford Galaxy with the VAG engines in are the same ,

its quite scary when you first experience it , if you are concerned about what the pedal feels like when braking heavily why don't you try it out , find a suitably quiet road/car park and do some heavy braking , then if you are still not sure , get a garage to check the master cylinder or re-bleed the system again

i guess i'll try it and see.. other than the fading the brakes feel good (haven't driven it on the road)

i'll keep an eye on the fluid level aswell as that will give anyproblem away!
