octavia vrs dump valve and superchip????

Featured Replies

hi all,

this is the second time i posted something about this subject but im still clueless...

i am a novice with turbo engines and need help

if im being honest i want the dum valve for the noise(memory of my childhood& a renult5 gt turbo)sad i know!!

as for the superchip i want a jump in bhp and i dont want to spend a shed load of cash.

i would be really greatfull for any advise/tips/prices

thanks :)

Firstly superchips is a trade name. What you are referring to is known as a remap.

The 1.8t doesn't take too well to Vent to Atmosphere (the ones that go pssst) valves however Forgemotorsport have released an adjustable one which apparently works well.

When shopping for a remap you would do well to bear in mind that you very much get what you pay for. Thats not to say that cheap is bad or expensive good but look for a reputable company who will be around next week to support you.

You could always buy and induction kit like the Carbonio and with the DV fitted you will have the noise you want ;)

Yep, what Fezboy said.

I've got an Evoms CAI on mine, and when i had the standard DV fitted, i still got enough noise.

As for the remap, if you do a search on here you'll find it's a common topic, lots of people to choose from, depending on your location too.

Is what worth doing ?

The dump valve or the remap/chip ?

If just the dump valve on a standard car, i'd personally say dont bother, as to hear it you'd have to get a decent CAI as said above.

If the cars going to be remapped, then yes, it's worth replacing.

Depends your reasons for wanting one.

Mmm

I have to agree with what has been said there

If you want the nosie the ONLY dump valve you can put on the 1.8T engine is the Forge one the SplitR

But if you go down the route of a CAI like the Carbonio and put the Forge 007P DV then you will get the noise and it sounds sweeeeeeeet!!!!

Oooh I love them

As for the remap

Get your hand in your pocket as YES it makes a difference

The best thing to do as already has been said is find someone close to you and not an ebayer or someone who comes out to your house

You will find that by doing a remap you rely on EVERYTHING on the engine to be running 100%

So if there is a small underlying fault it will make it pronnounce so you may need to make sure that a full diagnostic check is done before and after

There are some company`s that do trials so that may be worth a check

Or even go to a few meets and sit in someones car with a map for a drive

Go on do it , it will be the best thing you have done so far :D oh other than buying that fantastic car to start with

Hmm,not sure i agree about the ebay remaps. True there are alot of poor mappers out there but there are some good ones too.

There are many briskodians on this forum that have had remaps done by ebay users.

Just do your research and check that they know what their doing also recommendation is a great way of seeing how good they are.

I suppose one way to check how good they are is through their feedback rating.
