Windows and locking gone loco!

Featured Replies

Been away on hols for 2 weeks, returned to find my electric windows and central locking have gone nuts, the central locking going off many times PER SECOND and the windows going up and down of their own accord!

Had to remove the fuses from windows and doors as windows were going down when the car was left unattended leaving filling it up with rainwater, and of course the car was insecure.

Any ideas?

Might help if you told us what car it was.

I'll move this to the correct forum for you.

Sorry, thought I'd stuck this one in the Fabia forum ...

It's a PD100 combi, with the fuses removed at the moment.

Have got exactly the same problem, suddenly appeared on my 51 reg 1.4 Comfort and think I've found the answer.

Whip out fuse 49 to disable the central locking, so at least the windows won't wind down on their own and the car is lockable via the key .. except the tailgate of course :(

Peel back the rubber boot covering the cable loom from the drivers door to the door pillar .. only remove the part on the actual pillar as this is where the plug/sockets are located. Take out the top black connector .. the one with the four thickest wires going into it .. and check for water ingress and corroded pins. Thoroughly dry out and clean all connections .. difficult to see the ones in the pillar socket so use an air line or aerosol can dry air cleaner .. then lightly coat with a moisture repellant like WD40 and reseat. Move the connector in and out quite a few times before clicking it home, to make sure all the corrosion is removed.

This should fix it, but some sort of extra seal will probably be required around the refitted rubber boot as they seem to stretch with use and allow rain water in. Perhaps vaseline or even silicone sealant, but the latter may make it difficult to remove if required in the future.

Good luck !!

PS Don't forget to put back the fuse

Good Lad !

I've been driving around with 3 fuses out for the past few days, I'll give this a whirl in the morning

I had exactly same problem with 04 vrs and it was still under warranty (just:orb_jacks ) took it back to dealers for them to look at. they found it was a burnt fuse in main ecu. They replaced this and reprogrammed ecu and not had a problem since.

Hi b1ackb1rd

How did you get on with your window and door lock problem, I've got the same thing happening on my 53 Fabia.

Did the door conector fix it or was it a more expensive fix?

Sorry B1ackb1rd, my question was more, how did you solve the fix, what was the problem that was causing it and what parts did you replace.

Any help would be appreciated
