Delivery Delay

Featured Replies

Just received this email from the people who are sorting my order.

'I have just spoken to the dealership and they had some problems at the PDI centre but that’s getting sorted today so your vehicle with arrive with them on 02/10/2007. You will be looking to have delivery around the 4th/5th October, if anything changes I will let you know.'

Does this sound about right? That will make it 16 weeks from when I ordered it - not good!!

Where are the cars PDI'd? Thought that this was done at the dealership.

Cheers.

Sounds very odd to me. I would be wanting to know exactly what the problems were..... Has it fallen off the back of the transporter ?.......

I thought the supplying dealer did the PDI?

Unless they do a basic check at the port. If so and they have noticed something it must be big enough i.e. the car only has 3 wheels.

I'd want to know NOW what the delay was and make sure you double check the car and the paint work extra carefully when you take delivery.

Reading the email that was sent to me, it's not clear whether there is a problem with the car, or a problem at the PDI centre itself (wherever / whatever the PDI centre is??)

I will try and give them a call tomorrow. For what it's worth, I understand that the car is being supplied by IML Plymouth.

Any more thoughts welcome.

Thanks

I would think the PDi is carried out at the dealership. So they've either found a fault or it has been transporter damaged.

Right then - just spoke to the dealership who were very helpfull.

They said that Skodas are indeed PDI'd at the dealerships and not at a 'PDI Centre' as I was previously told by the people handling the purchase. VWs and Audis have their own PDI Centre where they are checked prior to despatch to the dealerships though, apparently.

My car came in the country last Friday and was requested to be forwarded by the dealer early this week. The car was then consigned yesterday (Thurs). I have been told that it's usually 4-5 days for delivery from the docks to the dealers from the day it's consigned.

It will then take 1 day to PDI / valet, then despatched to me. 17 weeks by then!!

Hopefully it should be with me by the end of next week.

Looks like I received some duff info from from the people handling the purchase.

might be transportation damage, damaged in transit, check the car very carefully for signs of repair if I were you before signing on the dotted line.

Ordered Octavia VRS mid July still waiting. Dealer told me it was consigned on Saturday, but couldn't tell me when I would get it.
