Is the LG Prada any good ?

Featured Replies

Been meaning to upgrade my mobile for a while now, but nothing has took my fancy until now.

I keep seeing the LG Prada around and it looks like a nice piece of kit. The videos of the interface look impressing on T'internet.

I have a soft spot for touch screen phones, having had the SPV M500 and SPV M3100 in the past.

Im currently on Orange and i have a SE W850i, which i cant fault, but being out of the 12 month contract for 3 months now, i feel i should upgrade to get my free yearly phone as i see it.

Anyone got any good points or bad points on the LG Prada or recommend any other phones on the Orange network. (I wont leave as my home T'internet is free).

I would love an iPone, but it looks like o2 have the rights to it in November, so i cant see it on Orange for a long time.

i would wait for the iphone mate, from what ive seen the prada isnt all that good.

if there are any owners on here might disagree, but i used to work for carphonewarehouse and ive still got friends there. he said "its alright to borrow but i wouldnt want to look at it for 12 months" :D

My boss has one of them and he said its one of the worst phones he's ever had. Its only good as an ice breaker to get talking to women (his words not mine). He said its hard to use and the touch screen is a nightmare

yea another vote for people hating it.

now as for the iPhone :D im keeping my mouth shut as im biased :D

My sister has the LG chocolate phone, it has all the touch screen gubbins and she regrets getting it. The touch screen is very sensitive, I think far to sensitive. She has managed to dial people by mistake just by brushing her finger or hand on the face of the phone.

I might steer clear of it then with the above comments.

Still going to hold out for the iPhone, but think its going to be at least 12 months before i see it on orange.

I have an LG Chocolate. By far the worst phone I have ever had.

LG = pants

iPhone might never make it onto Orange. The deal with Apple and o2 won't really be like a traditional operator/manufacturer relationship I have a feeling, because Apple isn't a traditional phone manufacturer.

Just get whatever on your contract and sell it on. Then get an iPhone and follow the unlocking guide :D

Been looking at the iPhone on ebay, but they are all locked, supplied with an unlock guide.

Might give it a while before purchasing one unlocked.

Though about getting a HTC touch and selling it on, should get £250 for it.:D

In addition to my N95, I've got a 3G LG Shine, Its great, works perfectly, responds instantly and has no bugs unlike f'ing Nokias, it's put together properly too.

i used to sell phones and LG phones and they are just old bits of samsung phones, certainly not up to the nokia build quality! just look at the LG prada, they try and make a multi function device like nokia have been doing for years and its rubbish!

i never understand why people say nokias have bugs, ive had almost every smart phone from the 6600, and they have without doubt been the best phones i have ever used!

im onto the n95 now and as long as you dont get a network branded phone, they are excellent! if your after a phone that does it all then thats it!

 Nokias are riddled with bugs, my N95 is unbranded, it's menu's are slow (yes it's on latest firmware) and it most certainly isn't up to the build quality of the LG.

Never used the Prada so cant comment on that, but the Shine just feels so solid compared to the nokia, fair enough it hasn't got the same feature set, and the N95 is the one I use day to day, but when you press a button on the LG it responds instantly, the screen doesn't seem like it's taking bits off one piece at a time, then putting the next screen up one bit at a time.

I've been using Nokia's since mobiles first came out, and what attracted me to the LG was that the menu system is almost identical, the difference is it works properly.

The LG has never filled my outbox with blank messages that can't be deleted etc etc, in fact, it just works properly, I just wish Nokia would sort themselves out and stop releasing slow buggy phones, they are renowned for it, anyone who says otherwise obviously doesn't work in the industry?

I've got the basic 2G shine - it's an okay phone/SMS device. Annoyingly quiet ringtones and the inability to set your own message alert tone are my only criticisms. In all honesty I miss my black V3...

no offence intended but i worked with mobiles for over 3 years and throughout that time ive had access to practically ever phone released and a few that still arent out yet! ive had the choice of phones throughout that time, able to change whenever i felt i wanted too. but i found that pound for pound, feature for feature, and quality to quality i kept coming back to nokia. I also had no problem recomending them to anyone wanting allot of features on their mobile!

its funny how everyone i worked with had all at one time or another had the smart nokias and loved them to bits! its nowhere near perfect by any stretch, but its certainly not "riddled" with bugs! the reason the LG responds the way it does is its limitations as to what you can do on it. whereas the scope for what the nokia can do is huge, and the price you pay is for slightly slow opertation. oh btw im posting this from my nokia, which is what i do most days

Sony Ericsson all that way lads..............until the iPhone is out but i can honestly see me going back if they bring out a good phone

The iPhone wont accept any sort of software upgrade if you unlock it allegedly. the upgrades recognise an unlocked phone and will brick the phone if you try and install them.

Odd, the 3G version allows my own message tones to be selected, and it's more than loud enough to listen to mp3's through the loudspeaker? It also does everything the N95 does except satellite navigation as it doesn't have built in gps.

I can surf the web, post on briskoda, use MSN messenger, listen to mp3's, watch video's, and take nice pictures (obv not quite as nice as the N95's 5 megapixel ones, but the camera is ready in a fraction of the time compared to the N95).

Sorry, didn't mean to be rude, the problem is, Nokias ARE great, but they are also incredibly annoying, I am a VERY heavy user, I probably use my phone more in a day than most people do in a month, and the Nokia bugs and constant updates just prove that they are releasing products onto the market that aren't ready.

They have just proved this by launching a NEW N95 (they've even got the cheek to leave the same name on it) with a better screen, better battery life and a whole lot more internal memory, basically admitting they got it wrong with the first one, do you think they will swap mine FOC? I somehow doubt it.
