New Car Time

Featured Replies

Had the 911 for a while now and with the little man getting bigger now it's just not practical as an every day car so I'm going to change it for something with four doors - the question is what?

It needs to be a four door saloon, be quick and fun to drive up and down the country.

I don't want another porcshe and I'm thinking along the AMG Merc line or if I can stretch the finances a Maserati but I'd have to probably go for used one.

Anyone able to suggest other maunfacturers that do quick four door saloons?

Err, Audi do one or two nice ones...

RS4 anyone?

Have to admit had an RS4 as a hire car a while ago and did like it - hadn't thought about them though for some reason, save myself a fair bit of money too - more hand bags:D

Boring reliability & its Merc, RS4, M5 etc (german)

To be different I love the masser, or perhaps the Bentley

It all depends on your budget

That top of the range Vw, name escapes me depreciates like a falling planet so s/hand ones are incredible value for money but Im guessing badge means something to you

having had the 911 I would also be wary of the bigger cars, no matter what they say the bigger it is the harder it is to chuck around

The Phaeton?

A chap around the corner from me has one, so understated, but a lovely car.

Jag XJR, BMW M5, Alpina B5, Monaro?

Guess it depends what you mean by fast and fun!

Well that takes the Roomster out of the equation, Have you not thought of a helicopter, not sure about the doors think you can get four door ones, !

Audi RS for me

4wd a 'useful' bonus

Full marks for effort there Quinten:thumbup:

Don't want a BMW - never liked them and we all know indicators are an expensive option on them:rolleyes:

Bentley isn't nice to look at and being a girl it has to be pretty - do they do them in Barbie pink:rofl:

I know it's going to be a compromise compared to the 911 but I need the space for my son and the fun side of things comes in on the regular drive from London to Aberdeen - you have to spice these drives up to stop yourself going insane.

V8 roomster would be good - I actually really like the roomster.

Bentley ..... - do they do them in Barbie pink:rofl:

Jordan has a pink one apparently - it's what caused Gordon Ramsey to get rid of his Bentley, going by what he said when he was on Top Gear.

Roomster is very good actually so practical not seen a V8 though would be airborne , not sure how you follow a porsche ( only in the cloud of dust as it go's past ) take some beating, hard act to follow. top of the range octavia maybe,

not sure how you follow a porsche

Fabia 2.0l would be the obvious choice for supercar performance combined with 4/5 door practicality. ;)

Chris

out of interest what do you do for work as i am in totally the wrong job

my bet would be an RS4 or older RS6, awesome.

How much can you go up to? £60-£70k?New or second hand?

It's grrrreat spending other peoples money:D

Cayenne? (wild card-do you hate all cars like this?I reckon it would be a great cruiser)

Love Maserati.Don't know if they are reliable or supercar tempremental though.

For relatively cheap raw speed and practicality at the expense of looks and comfort I'd go for a Mitsubishi Evo. If you want the full set you'll have to ignore your ethics and go for an M5.;)

VW Taureg (sp) TDi? Ok, only 350bhp, but with over 500lbft torque, and better looks than the Cayenne, who cares?

I had a play with a cayanne in Italy on the Furball, I could loose it in a straight line & when it came to bends it cornered more like a hovercraft (all over the place) In my humble opinion it did a discredit to the name Porsche.

The masser is IMO Georgeous & my preferred choice to a Ferrari, reliability I dont know but Fezzers arent that reliable, I can only assume the masser to have a similar record.

Being a "lady" does a rag top appeal, if yes its getting to the time of year when prices drop, Merc do a few nice ones, OK 2 door but 4 full seats, slightly down price but still a stunning car is the S4 Audi Convertible, Ive been on the track against one of those, admitedly the lady driving was rather a good driver but it certainly put up a very impresive performance

I work offshore playing with ROV's.

Had an evo and didn't like it - I want comfort and performance which you don't get in an evo plus it would always be in for a service and oil change with the regular long drives. Got an RS2000 after that then the fabia.

Not into my Chelsea tractors - should leave that type of thing to farmers plus it's a well know fact that us ladies only drive that kind of thing to feel safe:rolleyes:

75 would be tops price wise with my sensible head on but with my petrol head on it could be stretched - would possibly sell the Europa too for the right car.

Not into a rag top either - my car is my oasis.

aren't porsche coming out with a 4 door saloon soon.... the Panamera or something like that.....

Sod the four doors and get an Aston Martin. You can get them in any colour you like as long as you have something for them to match it too.

Or you could try a secondhand maybach or bentley.

For me though if i had that money id get a fully loaded Octavia vRS and spend the rest (around £50k) modding it. Imagine the face of some twonk in his M5 as you blew him away on the autobahn.

Seriously though if it was me id go for the RS4 as Clarkson said its the best car you can buy for £50k. Save yourself £20k (SWMBO said think of Jimmy Choo)
