Bye bye Octavia after a month!

Featured Replies

Had an update earlier, seems fifth gear was totally stripped of any teeth.

Yowzers. I can see how that might result in something of a loss of "go".

Hope it all gets sorted out.

Lack of 5th gear wouldn't neccessarily be a problem in itself, it's all those little metal teeth jumping around in the gearbox that'd worry me, not to mention any metal particles mixing with the oil!!

Could explain the mpg problem you had though:P

I think a lot of gearbox problems in a lot of cars are caused by the "sealed for life" oil regime. Yes they are indeed sealed for life, it just so happens that the life is shorter than if you change the oil IMHO.

Hmmm, dya really think so?

nope doubt it. Unless you were driving around in fifth with the engine reving but not travelling very far.;)

Well after 2 weeks of being at a Main dealer, the car is back!

I am happy to see it back but am majorly paranoid now, every banging noise and whirring noise makes me think something else is gonna break too!

Fingers crossed hey its just in my head!
