Newbie!! Proud owner of new fabia sedan

Featured Replies

Hi to all!!. Just to introduce myself. I live in Malta and today have became the proud owner of a new Fabia 1.2 47kw comfort sedan. Part-exchanged the car with a 15 year old subaru justy 1.0. Had to change the car as it became to small!.The Subaru was exemplary in its reliability, something that the Fabia with its electronics will find difficult to equal, or am I being pessimistic!!. Time will tell.

Cheers,

Charles

Welcome to Briskoda

I have to say that in general, the Fabia is a very reliable car. Not had any problems with either of mine apart from the odd trim rattle

:) Hey, hi charles, excellent choice of motor. Just got mine last week, best car iv'e ever had ..so far! Lovely country you are in there. Havn't been for 20 years, but don't suppose it's changed that much has it! Remember it appearing to be locked in a time of it's own. FANTASTIC! The age of some of the cars and the very friendly residents made a big impact on me. Have you got another beach yet!!? .Would love to come back, only there didn't seem that much for enteraining kids last time I was there. Have to wait for them to grow up a bit more I suppose. Keep in touch with us all. Get sick of listening to all the regulars on here ;);) (only messin'!) cheers colin

Welcome from Malta!!!!!! It's a great Island, went there last year and was really impressed. You guys are way cool, hope to go back there some time.

A nice island with very friendly people. I was based at RAF Hal Far in 1966/7 then at RAF Luqa from 1969 to 1971, flying Shackletons from both bases. My shortest flight ever from one airfield to another lasted just 90 seconds and was from Hal Far to Luqa. As sooon as we had got the aircraft off the ground into a climb it was time to set up an approach to land. Quite hairy in a tailwheel Shackleton Mk 2 weighing circa 75,000 lbs at the time.

Hi all,

Tks for the replies. Had quite a shock on reading thoroughly the handbook. All maintenance of any kind, even something as simple as changing an interior light is to be referred to the dealer. No help is given to perform simple things like engine and gearbox oil changes. This is no good to an owner who likes to do his own maintenance himself after the warranty expires. My previous car, a Subaru Justy had a handbook that described in detail all regular items.

Is a manual available for the car?. Haynes apparently do not publish a manual for the Fabia as yet!!!

cheers,

charles

welcome! :D

Haynes are rubbish. Besides, you've got the biggest up to date manual right here, your Briskoda friends :D.

Welcome Charles. :wavey:

Must say, I actually prefer the sedan to the hatch and the estate. :D

As for maintenance, most things are relatively simple. Anything out of the ordinary, just ask on here and I'm sure there are people who can/will help you, not me as I have the mechanical aptitude of a drunk hamster :D

Whereas my aptitude is better represented by a comatose hamster...

Hi to all,

So many things to ask, like where is the oil filter??? Note: engine is the 1.2 3cyl 12v. What is that component with a cap marked 25.5 Nm on top of the alternator?? Is that it?? How do you remove the plastic top that covers the engine??? How do you remove the ECU <-- just kidding!!! Still, prepare yourselves, you knowledgeable lot for many things to come!!!

regards,

Charles

if any of you lot are thinking of coming over to Malta for the holidays, things should be easier now that we are formally in the EU, or should I say things will became more difficult for the natives!!

:nurse: Welcome charles! hope you have many more happy years with your new sedan.

25 nm yes thats oil filter housing.Plastic top cover pulls off but its tight.Great car but one slight letdown:-beyonce and J-Lo`s rear ends are more pleasing on the eye.Do u agree gayle vrs?

:nurse: yip I'd have to agree gmsk unless you look at that unsightly pic of j-lo's rear end that was in the paper where her jeans were far too tight and she looked really deformed. Guess the celebs cant look great all the time better to be curvy though, would you not agree. Kenny previously made comment mine was the size of a small country. Joking of course or maybe not ?

 You sound bootilicious! Nothing worse than no ar*e. But seriously for a sec, the Fab saloon looks like an afterthought! I cant talk tho, as my first motor was a chevette saloon-undoubtedly a contender for UK's worst looking car. ....Mind you, i've got a lot of good memories from that car(if u know what I mean!) :):)
