Featured Replies

I have just registered to join BRISKODA.

I have had an Octavia 1.9TDI from new for 8.5 years. It has proved to be very reliable, but in the last few days the instrument cluster has started playing up. After starting and pulling away the dials do not register speed, revs, fuel level or engine temperature after doing 3 to 4 miles it can burst into life and appear to be working normally other times nothing registers for the whole journey.

I am trying to find out how I post a technical query on this site about the instrument cluster failure.

Try posting under the Octavia section of the forum. :)

but welcome anyway ;)

If you are trying to post in the Ask A Tech section then you'll need to register as a Freedom Member first.

I have a faint recollection of seeing a post containing similar details before so the search may show something up.

Oh and Welcome.

Welcome to Briskoda

not another relative of yours gilly?

Welcome to briskoda.

Welcome.

I've a vague notion of having seen something similar too. Try seaching for "voltage regulator", and exclude "alternator".

Hello & welcome

Ben :)

Hi i have just registered on briskoda today, i have a fabia vRS remapped to 180bhp. its an awesome drive and very reliable however i changed the front nearside wheel bearing on saturday and since then the brakes have stopped working and it feels like the abs is on all the time, the abs and traction control lights are on on the instrument panel, ive checked everything twice theres no damage to the wheel sensor or the wiring. Any ideas folks?

Ho hum, I have the same problem with my 1999 Octavia. It seems that its a fault on the chip in the instrument cluster on the 1999 /2000 Skodas and VWs. It seems the only solution is to replace the whole panel at a cost of €800!!! Mine collapsed in April but occasionally comes to life again. I use a GPS to give me my speed and estimate my fuel from the mileage I do between full tanks!

I'm not too bothered since I have another year and a half before the car needs its next NCT test. I've got 135000 miles up so maybe it will be time for a change later. We'll see.

A friend of mine had the same problem too.

Cheers,

Peter

Hi, and welcome.

Many people on the forum have had this problem. Go to the top of the screen and type in the word instrument, in to the search box, and you will be able to read threads written by me, and others on the subject.

best of luck, and I hope that you manage to cure the problem.
