I was hoping for sub £500. I'm guessing the 1 yr NCB isn't helping my cause much. :(

I was offered free 7-day insurance to drive my vRS away last week, but they refused to insure me :P Halifax offered the cheapest quote at £820. I'm 25 and yet have been driving only 20 months; might have something to do with it. What can I say, I've told myself I would buy a vRS for years.

direct line wouldn't insure me! said i needed 2 yr NCB minimum

18k ?? Are you using your car for business? That and the fact you have claimed and have no NCD they will hammer you on pretty much anything.

Bit high imo. Im 22 with 1 ncb on an Astra VXR... £850. How many places have you rung?

18k ?? Are you using your car for business?

£250!!!! I'll get back on it!

So far I've tried confused & Money Supermarket. Both searching 1,000,000,000,000 providers. Will also try Adrian Flux tomorrow.

At 26 I was paying £550 for an 06 plate Fabia vRS 1 year on my license and 1yr NCB, this was from Quinn Direct.

Just had a quote of £770 from Greenlight for a 57 plate Focus ST2 with 2yrs NCB

you will all love this then, lol (special ed)

£2538 with bell, i wouldnt normally pay that much, but the company i work for are effectively paying the car and insurance with an allowance, feel for us young uns' :(

i just played a couple of companies off each other on the phone, i called them when i got my new quote through the post and said that if they didn't do better i would leave, they asked what my best quote was so far, i told them £250, they put me on hold for a minute then said they would match it.

Elephant don't insure if any modifications have been made though.

I'm paying about £400 FC and i'm 26, married, driving for 8 years, car parked on driveway, 7k miles 3 years no claims and no accidents or points. Also paying the same again for my bike, Honda CBR600RR with 1 year no claim and been riding for a year.

Driving for nine years but only 1 year ncb???

How come??? Have you been on somebody else's policy? That'll be the issue if true I guess.

Tell them you only do 4000 miles a year ... they won't ask for your mileage anyway so they'll never know any different.

Yeah, all those years on other people policies. vRS is the first car I bought/owned! Last year I was on 6,000 miles and I'm sure I'll do 8,000 next year. Ran both distances through confused and the price only altered by £18.

It's gotta be the NCB and the Postcode......

That's in Splott isn't it.....

With only 1 years NCB you are lucky it's that low parking round there. I have a mate who lives in Broadway and he just leaves his open with nothing in it so they stop damaging the doors.

You need to ask Welshy who insured his ;)

haha my average quote for vRS...

28

6 years NCB

no accidents, no points

private car park away from public

Milton Keynes

£450 average, with a bonus £150 excess premium extra on majority of insurers! :o

I've jsut got q quote on a Fabia vRS:

8 months driving

Not bad I think for only being passed since March.

Edinburgh (EH8)

On Drive

10K Miles per annum

6 years NCB

No claims/accidents ever!

Driving for 6 years.

05 plate vRS (est £9000)

£502 is my insurance renewal

£799 most expensive with the AA

Lets think which one I will be taking, this is based on buying over the net, so will be phoning up this week to check this out.

CF24 covers Cathays, Roath, Splott and Adamsdown although yes, I am the afore mentioned comically named area.

What makes it worse is living in both Cathays and Roath as a student I lost count of the time I'd see cars with the wing mirrors smashed off.

Maybe I'll stick my old man on the policy. He's been itching for a go. Now, do you reckon he'll return the favor with his RX8.........?
