UK-MKiv-er Loses a Furby of the family.....

Featured Replies

I'm FOXY over on UK-MKiv's (Golf/Bora Forum) and you guessed it - we have a 'collection' of Skoda's in the family.

Dad: Tavia 53 Elegence Estate PD130

Mum: Furby 03 Elegence PD100

Grandad: Furby 03 Elegence PD100

Wife: Furby 51 Comfort 1.4 16v

After the wife's motor had been back to Brooklyn Rugby many times (new ECU, heater blower, ABS controller and throttle body), the final straw came last evening whilst i was driving it.

We were on our way in convoy (Tavia and Furby) into local town for a meal.

After stopping at a set of traffic lights, I pulled away with plenty of revs - taking it up to about 5.5k.

Sudden loss of power - dash lights flashing - metallic 'tinkly' sound from under bonnet.

I coast to a stop knowing already it was the cambelt.

(it's under warranty and only done 27k miles! fully stamped dealer service too)

Skoda Assist came later and confirmed this - and towed the car to Brooklyn.

I think it's time to see if Brooklyn will contribute to swapping it for a proper engined Furby........the vRS TDi !!!

:( - bloomin' eck. Sounds like that car was a real duffer. Good luck in getting a vRS though ;)

Cheers for that.........was it you selling two good and two knackered a17" alloys on eBay a couple of weeks ago?

nope - but I do have two decent 17" VW Evolo alloys, plus one that should be able to be refurbed. I've not decided whether to put them on ebay yet - may do...

Ouch :thumbdwn:

Here's an update:-

Wife: Tavia '03 Elegence Estate 110 Tdi

Me: Tavia '53 Elegence Estate PD130 Tdi

Son: Yamah JogRR 50cc

Dad: Tavia 2 '56 Laurin+Klement PD140 Tdi

Mum: BMW 530d se

Grandad: sadly he passed away 12 months ago

Foxy,

How do you rate Brooklyn?

They are the local dealer to my work although Rainworths in Mansfield are nearer home. Not sure which to use come service time, the first 3 services are free so cost isn't an issue yet, just wondered about service quality.

Cheers

Paul
