How much to fit timing belt kit and water pump?

Featured Replies

As the title suggests, what is about the right price to be paying for labour to get the timing belt and all tensioners replaced and the water pump?

My mechanic has just charged me £150 for labour as i supplied all the parts and this was a bit more than i was expecting, what do you guys think?

He did replace a brake light bulb and registration plate bulb and put anti-freeze in as part of that £150.

One thing he did say as he gave me the keys back which made me smile was, "It's a fooking quick car that mind, isn't it?", "I know", i grinned, "It is, isn't it" and i left, smiling, but very skint! :(

I would say that was very reasonable. What did the cost of parts come to?

Steve

doesn't seem to bad a price for what you got done , belt and pump is over a 2 hour job iirc

Timing belt kit was £70 +vat and metal impellor water pump was £45 +vat from Eurocar Parts.

The car has done nearly 70k.

1 hour road test included as well ;)

So it sounds cheap.

Price sounds bout right, BTW

3.5 hours labour book time for cambelt and water pump.

I would have said it was a fair price.

I suspect it might be worth asking Lummox Industries in the future though ;)

Awesome ask about £375 plus vat IIRC, all in.

D'oh!

£70 deffo wasn't a dealer price

I was gonna say 2 hours sounds a bit light for a timing belt and water pump.

Mine cost me £200 all in including Genuine Skoda Cambelt Kit and Labour and was done at a skoda garage by a skoda tech, did not have the water pump changed though.
