if you want a real trade price i can get one for you at work tommorrow. most if not all of the "guides" are way out and will only mislead you into what a dealer will actually be able to offer for your car.

Im guessing 7k or so?

I have no intention of selling anyway, I guess the Mk2 has had an impact on the value of our Mk1s.

Just as well I dont like the aesthetics of the Mk2 :) Ill be keeping mine until it dies spectacularly Im guessing.

Around £6000...................Thanks guys

 wish i hadnt seen this thread

ive got mine up for sale for 8.5 k which i thought was the high end to what its worth

under 7 for a trade is a bit scary

what sort of difference it there normally between trade and selling private ?

A 7k trade in would probably have a forecourt price of about £8.5k , and a private sale would be somewhere in the middle

I got £7k trade in for my 53 plate VRS about 6 months ago (it had around 30k on the clock). I then saw it up for £9k in dealer forecourt. So would think an 04 should make around £7k.

going by that i would say the true trade value to be roughly 6k. glasses are the bain of any dealers life. they quote such silly figures for trade prices!

it also depends on if you just want them to buy the car outright of px it for another, plus then it depends on what margins they have in the car your looking to buy. the only real way to get a price is to pick a car and visit the dealer for a cost to change.
