Bad sounding Octavia?

Featured Replies

Hi

my dad has recently purchased a 2002 1.9 110 bhp Octavia which has just had the turbo overhauled under warranty, as it was sticking, and because of this the car was going into limp mode. My question is that when you rev the car up and let off the accelerator as the rev’s drop it sounds almost like a waste gate valve that you would expect to hear on a turbo petrol car.

Is this a normal sound on an Octavia  as my Fabia VRS dose not sound like this?

The noise was there before the turbo was overhauled

It's quiet, but you do get some on-off turbo sound from the 110. Does it go ok? It won't keep up with your Furbie, but should still feel rapid for its weight and power.

It goes o.k. now that the turbo has been overhauled just wondered weather that sound should be as loud as it is, or should be there at all ?

Could it be that the release valve is on its way out, if so is it a difficult/ expensive thing to change?

Any ideas please?

On the Elegance it's a quiet day, radio off, driver's window open job to be sure of hearing the turbo at all.

Or it could be as the turbo was sticking it wasnt working properly before and now it is it seems noisier.

Sadly it needs to be looked at and listened to for an accurate diagnosis.
