Ordering up, quick look in please

You need a wiring loom adaptor and an ariel booster/amplifier connector that connects to the arial(supplys 12v to the ariel amp.

You don't need those RCA cables as they come with the bass pack you're looking at. :)

Yep, fascia adapter, get one from Skoda, £2.42 IIRC.

You DONT need a loom adapter though. You will be able to swap the red and yellow wires over on the Pioneer loom that comes when you get it. All will become clear when it arrives. :)

Its probably a good idea to get an aerial booster, but when I had a Pioneer in my old Fabia vRS, it was just fine without. Space behind the head unit is tight, so try it without one first.

The only thing you've missed really is the keys to get the standard headunit out! :)

Fascia adaptor, is the stock stereo a difference size?

Oooh, are the cables easy to swap... not a massive fan of cutting and chopping wires?

I dont think the cable pack that comes with the sub package has rcas, doesnt say it does *reads again*

Will the sub overpower the rest of the system, baring in mind Im not amping the any other speakers... I'm not an audio freak just want an okish system thats clear and bassy!

Thanks for the quick replies! :)

Dont think you need a facia adaptor mk1 is standard din.Had a look at your link for the amp/sub ,the kit supplied has an rca pictured but not listed in that autoleads kit.Not sure yet what release keys you need but i will have to get some before friday by the looks of it.

Yup, very small slim fascia adaptor needed.

and dont worry about swapping the wires, they are usually on bullet connections so they just clip in.

The sub may overpower the system a little, but assuming you wire it on a Sub out channel you should be able to balance it ok.

Cool, keep my updated one what you get.

The only that makes me wonder about that wiring kit is... they dont state any of the lengths of cable!!

Cool, that headunit says "sub control" so I'm guessing that I can control it fine from there.

What would I ask for at the dealers for this fascia mate, I'm heading past them on Tuesday.

It's for an octavia... does that make any difference?

Apologies, I had my Fabia head on.

These are the Octavia numbers from Stu's other site:

Single Din Radio Facia Adaptor for Vehicles with Climatic - AZO 600 002

Single Din Radio Facia Adaptor for Vehicles with Climatronic - AZO 600 003

Heh! Sweet, thanks bud! Looks like I'm set to go...

The part numbers above are for a MK2 Octavia. MK1 doesn't require a fascia adaptor - the radio is standard DIN size/shape anyway

If you don't buy a wiring harness then you may need to modify the sterio wiring to stop it sending 12v down the diagnostics line (which can fry any diagnostics equipment which may be plugged into the car in the future)

Glad you got there first Phil, Very sad I know but when I went to bed last night I thought about that and that it may have been a mk1 he had :o

You can use a junior hacksaw blade to get the standard radio out. Just snap the blade in half and insert into the slots in either side of the radio to release it.

I've just put anew Alpine head unit in my Mk1 Octavia last week. Did not need a fascia adaptor, did not need a wiring harnes adaptor, did not need an ariel booster!

Alli did was swap the red and yellow around on the Alpine harnes (should be on bullet connectors) and cut the feed for the electric ariel as this connects onto the K wire of the Skoda harness.

Cut the feed for the electric aerial? What's this!

Also did you sort out the 12v down the diagnostic line? If so how!

On the wiring harness on your new head unit there should be a wire that is tagged up as being for a power antenna or simillar. I think it will be blue with a white stripe. This is what sends power down the k wire, which you don't want. Just cut it and insulate it.

  • 1 month later...

that blue wire (usually marked power antenna)from your head unit dosnt want to be conected to the vehical loom. you will need to conect a length of cable to it which runs to your amp, this is the remote line and turns your amp on and off with the Head unit. most wiring kits will come with an rca cable, and that one certainly shows one even if it doesn't list it.
