Going to look at a VRS

Featured Replies

Alright guys just after a bit of advice,

Im looking at a silver VRS at the weekend

2004 (04) reg

52,000 miles

asking price is £6,999

What do you think?

Sounds like reasonable money to me.

Check for wet rear carpets, obvious signs of abuse, service history and of course HPI if it's private sale.

Yeah i will get it HPI checked!

Whats this about wet rear carpets??

And when do these cars need timing belt kit change? Most cars is usually around 60K is it not?

60k or 4 years mate.

I picked up a black 04 with 28k on it, FSH, good nick, hpi clear, 2 previous owners (1 demo, 1 vicar) for £7,495.

But that was through my dads mate who owns a garage...

fabia's can suffer from leaking rear doors.

yeah the mileage is bothering me at 52K!!

I was really after a 40K car

52k is fine. Obviously you'll need to budget for the belt etc but if the car is nice then why not.

my local dealer has an 04 with over 65k on it, asking price 7,495 - so what you've seen looks in the right area.

Yeah supose

Just bugs me that my best mate got an 04 with 40k, remapped by superchips to 160bhp, octy vrs brakes, pd160 intake!, cd changer

For £6700

Im jealous!

Keep looking then - Eventually something will turn up. Make sure you are buying the right car for you and not just one thats available now.

Yeah but its hard to find em for good money mate due to their strong residuals at the moment, they are a sought after car now!

I only got mine as I was very lucky and waited 6 weeks for one to come up.

yeah i know guys!!

Cant find one for love nor money!!

basically i have the cash at the minute and as of this Friday i will be car-less which isn't good!!

your profile or info don't say where you are, but a dealer in Blackpool has an 04(may) with less than 40k on it, black,at 7,595

looking at the Skoda.co.uk used car search, there seems to be a glut of '06 and early 07 (still a 56) cars available at the moment, from 10.5 grand up to 12.

The 2 "special numbers" SEs are still there too (14 grand)

I got lucky by being patient, picked up Fabia VRS prototype of special edition, racing blue, red callipers, tinted windows, full leather etc on a 54 plate, only 9000 miles, owned by skoda for 3 years, in case of doubt checked log book, listed as vrs, blue. most forunate, but cost 9 and a half k, but a keeper. :)
