Fitted to both mine & the mrs' Furby vRS's..... Strangely enough on both cars the front passenger door one's have needed 2 or 3 clips to get the window to close properly.

At least now we can have the windows open when the dog is in the back without getting rain coming in etc.....

Seems weird the first time you drive it with them fitted as because they're tinted it seems as though your in a little sports car with very low/narrow side windows. :)

Cheers

Dave.

Stupid question I'm sure, but what exactly do they do?!

Basically they're wind deflectors..... You may remember seeing older cars with them that i believe fitted onto the doors themselves and really bulged out quite a bit.... These newer ones are a lot less obvious and fit up inside the gap where the window goes.

You can have the window down a couple of inches and they still allow airflow into the car but stop rain etc... getting in. Also stop a lot of noise when travelling at high speeds..... Again you can have the windows down a couple of inches on the motorway and there's hardly any noise but you still get air coming in the car.

We primarily got them to stop rain coming in when we have the dog in the boot as we always have the rear windows open a bit to give her a bit of fresh air as we're travelling.

Like those Dave - not sure on them fitted to the rears though.

Which ones did you go for? Where from, price etc? Any issues with window travel and one touch up and down etc?

Cheers,

Steve

Hey up Steve,

I went for the ones from a German Ebay store.... Octimex is the name of the store. They come as either 2 or 4 piece sets and both ours are the 4 piece sets as we wanted them for the rear windows as well for when the dog is in the boot.

THIS is a link to the Fabia one's but they do them for numerous other cars.

The 4 piece sets are approx £21 and with combined shipping our two sets came to just over £50 i think. They arrived within a few days too!!! The 2 piece sets are around £15.

As for fitting you just put the windows down and then the deflectors just slip up into the space where the window goes up into between the window seals. They also come with some metal clips which prise the window seals apart a little to help with window closing probs. With the rears being manual they are ok so i haven't fitted any clips there. The front Drivers side one's have a clip fitted and the passenger side one's on both cars have had a couple of clips fitted as they weren't shutting properly. The instructions also advise trying a little washing up liquid along the top of the window to help lubricate and this has improved with closing the windows. At the moment the windows seem to close ok..... I did notice that the passeneger one when closed with the auto function stopped and came back down once but this was out of about 10-15 goes so may get better as they get more use etc.... On that one occasion it closed straight away when closing without the auto function..... If that makes sense.

I've tried them out on the motorway and they really lower noise levels when having the window open a couple of inches. I was doing around the 90 mark and the noise was less than it would have been with the window open the same amount when driving at 50-60 without the deflectors fitted.

Hope this helps

Cheers,

I prefer them on the black car as they are less noticable due to them being tinted. They are still neat looking on the silver car though.

They can also be painted to match the colour of the car if reqd.

Cheers

Dave.

Thanks for that Dave - can't really make my mind up. I had been warned about them, and their fitting putting extra stress on the window regulator....

Hmmmm :rubchin:

I'd heard the same but i know 3 people who have them fitted without any probs so far, (1 Fabia vRS, 1 Corsa & 1 little chevrolet that i can't think of the name of ;)), Which is why we thought we'd give 'em a try.

I'm guessing the 'reset' trick of raising the window to the top and holding the switch in the "up" position for 10 seconds will work for the one-touch, whether you have wind deflectors or not...

i have them on the front of my Octy VRS i used to hate them but there great u can driv with the window down and not get blasted!!!

True, I'm sure that would do the trick - but I'd rather not have to resort to that in the first place...

Just a word of caution.

Be carful with the clips in the front window channels. I fitted them to mine the other week and while i was driving up the A1 with the window slightly open i heard one of the clips hit the glass, when i stopped i realised it had slipped forward around the rubber channel to about an inch below the door level luckily the clip hadn't droped into the bottom of the door and i was able to recover it with a pair of snipe nose pliers with the window down.

Now i'm just going to put a small amout of double sided tape on the back of the clips just to stop this happening again.

Hope this helps

Cheers for that...............

I put the clips in the front windows but rather than having probs with them falling out when it came to trying to move them i found i couldn't get them to come back out again..... I tried alsorts but it looks like they're in for good now. :)

Cheers

Dave.
