Ambiente vs Elegance, differences

I think I would like it, but it would be way down the list of important features.....

If it's anything like the Fabia, the "leather pack" is just leather on the gear kn0b and handbrake. A bit like the chrome pack which just added chrome on the door pins, gear kn0b and handbrake!

Ive just bourght a octavia elegance, veryy nice motor, mine has the alloys, sunroof, climate control, ASR, traction control and the very nice back spoiler which seems to be very rare :S

I get 60mpg generally and it geos like stink, very pleased with the car, alot nicer than my mk4 golf i had, 1.6 petrol which was slow, and no good on fuel.

according to the computer im getting around 42Mpg but i only do city driving so its not to bad but to be honest ive only filled a maximun of £30 in the tank so far so the 550 is an estimation really half tanks says i get around 280 so i generaly doubled it to get the 550 but it wouldnt be an accurate reading. the gearbox is not that bad and i dont think it will go anytime soon so far the best price i have had is 800 for a refurbished ne so far but unfortunatly they want the old gearbox as they all seem to want it back so couldnt sell it on even if i wanted to as it only happens between 50 and 70 mph and im only city driving i never see the problem really arise that much but ill may think about changing the gearbox in the next few months unfortunatly i got the car with the problem so i dont know when it arose but the car is only at 92000 miles so it doesnt really put much faith in the gearboxes :)

Nice!

I guess that shows how subjective we can be though, as I was in such a 1.6 golf last week and noted that 3 up it was capable of over 100mph on a short stretch of road before the driver was braking for other traffic. 0-60 times are similar to the Elegance tdi. Which in my book doesn't make it slow. I was stuck behind a tractor today at 25mph. That was slow.

However I do prefer the low/mid torque of the diesel which makes it FEEL a lot faster than it is in hard figures. I love driving turbo diesel's anyhow. So much that I got rid of the Volvo 960 3.0 24v 204bhp (slightly tuned) in favour of the 405 td. The volvo was faster (8.0 sec 0-60, not bad for an auto 1650kg car) but the low/mid punch of the 405 made daily driving FEEL swifter, other than when I really punched it there isn't much left. The Volvo would kick down, hit 5k and take off scalded cat fashion (bit of a revvy engine, though smooth).

I guess I'd REALLY like a powerful Turbo Diesel, 200bhp tdi here I come?

Greg.

you must be right as my 1.6 golf did not feel any where as quick as the golf, but the skoda handles better as standard and generally is a more comfy care and cheaper :-)
