Problems with Felicia 1.9 Diesel

Featured Replies

I bought a Felicia 1.9 diesel last Saturday as I needed something with a good average MPG and relatively reliable. Unfortunately I was wrong... After driving the car home on Saturday, it just wouldn't start on Sunday morning! The car came with service history and 71K miles on the clock which isn't bad for a diesel and I have to say it drove fine.

The person from the road assistance that had a look at the engine suggested that the fuel pump has failed as there was no diesel reaching the injectors. The starter worked fine trying to start the engine until the battery was drained - also the coils seemed to work fine. Let me just add that the fuel tank is full and the car has done about 700 miles since the last service. I was wondering if anyone has experienced a similar problem or if you have any idea what would be the cause? To me it seems a bit strange that it just failed like that. I was wondering if it is an immobilizer or ECU problem? Would disconnecting the battery reset the immobilizer and the ECU? Any help would be much appreciated!

:finger::finger::finger: thanks for the info! :finger::finger::finger:

You don't use forums very often do you mate.

You've joined, you've only made two posts and none of those is the introduce yourself section, then you go giving people the finger.

No problem, take your car to a mechanic and pay them to sort your problems - we don't tolerate abuse of our members or staff here.

I am sure if somone thought they could answer your post they would have by now.

What an idiot. That attitude will take him in far in life I am sure.

We've had two Octavia 1.9Tdi (Elegance Estate and Ambiente Hatch) and they were brilliant - still have the estate. Only got rid of the hatch because I got a company Volvo XC90.

Recently father-in-law bought a 2.0Tdi (dsg), absolutely brillaint, quick and comfortable and we would change but the estate still going well.

Mum on my recommendation has had a felicia for years and that has just had its first issue. Like the prats car, it would not start and guess what, the rescue mechanic said the fuel pump was dodgy. She took it to a specialist who changed the glow plugs from cheap nasty ones fitted at last service (his words) to good quality NGK.

Car starts fine NOW.

The car had been playing up for a while and I feel rather vindicated, I suggested that it was the plugs - but they had only been in 12-18months.

Dont destroy it, give it to me, i need a cheap runaround

I must say i like persons like Vertigo1979.

Or rather: I love buying cars from people like you. A car stops running once and your off to destroy it.

99.9% of the time its a minor thing and i have to car running the same day i buy it.

So looking forward to you selling this poor diesel to somebody who will make a great buy and have a great car for years.

Go buy something new with a guarantee.

I've just seen this, who would have thought about looking at a post about a Felicia that is beyond maintenance and completely lacking in performance in this section? Obviously not me. If the OP thinks Skodas are crap why did he buy one? If his brain cell is still on holiday we have a few choice scrap Felicias at work we could wind into him - at least we have the capability to get them running.:)

Deos the Felicia have an LP fuel pump like the Octy does? If so, I think I know what's wrong with the car now, but had to see the post, then go and check a manual at home to work it out!
