Picking up my sill guards Thursday. The sills need to be free from supaguard and any other residues that may stop them sticking.

So which one of the above or something else ? I don't want to damage the surface of the paint.

Meths would be my choice.

I go meths on plastic white spirit on metal, if I have both. That said I used meths on the sill guard on the felicia as I couldn't find the white spirit. Intrestingly the instructions with them said do not use meths. Don't know why.

IPA over both of them myself.

White spirit can leave an oily layer, so Meths would be better.

My best suggestion would be a small squirt of aerosol Brake or Carb cleaner (if you happen to have a spare can lying around). Guaranteed to remove any residue of grease, oil, etc.

If not - Meths.

I used Meths and mine a still firmly attached 18 months on - do make sure both sills and covers are warm as the glue wont set properly otherwise. From memory the instructions say 20 degrees C - I used a hair dryer and parked in the sun.

I do a lot of model brass painting and I clean it with lighter fuel.

Surgical wipes which are alcohol soaked are what I use. you can pick up a box from the chemist for next to nowt for a box of 100.

At risk of derision, I used warm water and washing up liquid being out of any solvents except acetone, which will probably strip the paint.

Worked fine - the adhesive on the double sided tape is good and there's plenty of it.

As above - best on a warm day to ensure the paint is dry and adhesive tacky.
