What at which service?

Featured Replies

I have a 1.4 16v. The service book does nit seem very informative as to what is to be done at each service. The car is now 4 y.o and I am thinking of using a local garage or one of the groups that just service, hopefully to cut costs. I want to make sure that what they do will cover the requirements.

As well as Q asked above, am I being wise?

Definately. The first 10k service for me was an oil change - 20k was oil and filter check air filter - Not at 30k yet but I think that will be a more in depth service, pollen filter? check belts etc. Unsure about the change of your cambelt, do some research on here

You can find a spreadsheet here which details the servicing info -

Fabia-vrs.com - Downloads

Stu - I can't get into the rest of that spreadsheet because of the macros.

Should be similar service intervals to my Polo. At 40K VW dealer (hefty bill!)carried out the following: oil, air and pollen filters. Brake fluid. Plugs.

Changed the cambelt/tensioner and water pump at 60K service (independent VW/Merc specialist), but they were probably on their last legs so it wouldn't harm to do them at 40K! I'd definitely go with changing the spark plugs every 20K even if that's not included in the service schedule.

Thats a security setting of your copy of Excel not a fault of the document.

I turned down the security settings and it still wouldn't open

edit - how odd - it worked after I shut it down and opened it again:O

Although if the document didn't have silly macros in it, you wouldn't need to turn off security in Excel :P
