Would you buy shocks off this ebay trader?

eBay My World - trademotorspares

Sells nothing but shock absorbers (so not exactly please buy a plasma TV for only £1k and western union me). However, my concerns are that -

a) the shock absorbers seem cheap for sachs brand (may be fakes or worse still dangerous)

B) warranty may not be supported as seller may be a private seller (despite their name suggesting otherwise)

c) seller may not have liability insurance should anything go wrong

d) seller has sold 5 items between 14th and 19th October and has only received and left 1 feedback (although postal strikes may account for this)

e) seller has purchased 2x 1p items to increase their feedback

I guess I have pretty much convinced myself not to buy now, despite the cheap price. Any other thoughts or supporting "don't do it"'s? :)

With only 3 feedbacks (and only one of those from a buyer) I personally wouldn't go for them. Maybe I'm just overly cynical, but I'd prefer to buy off somewhere backed with a proper/shop company where I could contact/complain/etc if things went wrong.

I guess at the end of the day it comes down to how much money you can afford to lose if it all goes wrong. You never know, it could be 100% genuine and a proper bargain :D

Selling that many items for someone who is a "new member" is a little odd. Could be someone just using a different account. It's suspicious in my eyes, and I would sooner look for the same bits from someone who's established on Ebay, maybe with a power seller icon or a 1000+ feedback points.

So how does one get feedback if nobody will buy off a person with no feedback ;)

Have searched the net but it seems there's no info on fake/dodgey shocks on the loose. I come with new info however. There is another newly registered private seller (again with a name suggesting they're a business) selling shocks, eBay My World - automotive-parts-clearance The item descriptions give a long list of absorber brands, and an equivalent sachs part number, but only go as far as saying 95% are sachs/boge. I asked a seller a while ago with the same or similar item description and searched my old e-mail to find what happened to the old seller.

Negative/Neutral Feedback received by t.c.c.s

They received a torrent of negative feedbacks, faulty items + no contact, fake items (mintex pads). They obviously decided to quit that account and start up again. Sellers are both in same location (Mids).

Unfortunately we have to remember Ebay is a hotbed for scamsters and people selling fake goods, so you really do need to be wary. Have to think they are making money from selling their Sachs branded shocks for £14.99 a pair (£7.50 each), paying Ebay fees, postage is probably about cost, and they're making money at the end of it all.

Thinking about it I'm becoming more convinced they're best avoided. It's a shame there are dishonest people in the world and we have to worry about these types of things... Oh well :)

it doesn't actually say it's for a pair, the picture shows 2 boxes, but the description is only for one, i've just checked with the parts supplier i use and those prices are ok, the retail price is something stupid, but they are coming in at a few squids about the net trade price:) but TBH it doesn't cost 14.99 to post a shock absorber, maybe that's how the fella is making his profit?? after all it is forbidden in the ebay terms to make profit out of postage charges

The first items for sale from this seller were 0.01p with FREE postage???

Maybe to try and get some feedback for future sales?

Myself I would not but I suppose everyone starts with NO feedback ;)

Fortunately there are plenty of (less cynical) people with money to burn who will build the feedback score up for me. ;) No different from buying in the "real" world for me....
