Problems with Fabia Oil Light!

Featured Replies

Hi Folks

My 04 Fabia VRS keeps bringing up the oil warning light between 30 seconds and 2 minutes (varying times) when I switch on the car!

It Flashes red on and off and is accompanied with a "Ding ... Ding..." warning that pings mabie 10 or so times then stops but the light keeps flashing

I have uploaded a sample dash pic and circled the light

Does anyone know what it is? or whats wrong?

The car is under warranty at the garage and is going to them on Sat but it did this before and they said it was a dirty sensor. They replaced the sensor but that was only 1 month ago and dont think it can dirty up that much in 1 month!!!

If its something serious i'm going to use my Mrs' car until the weekend as I dont want to fook up the Fab

HELP PLEASE

I forgot to add that this is mainly when the car has been stood overnight or for long periods and when its cold!

Have you put the red ring around the correct light?

The one ringed is for water temperature/level not oil.

Worth a check

Its in the same position so yeah!

The Skoda garage told me it was the oil light when I rang!!

Thats where it is so if its temp what does that mean? Thats its just cold

Cheers for the quick reply btw

Steve

Check the water level is up to the full line in the plastic expansion bottle and the plug which plugs into the bottle is Ok including the contacts.

Cheers Will do - Cars in the carpark so will go see now!

I had the same problem too, if car stays long at cold morning. After being hot it disapears.

You should check the water level. (When car is hot the level must be on the max).

The manual says this happens when the oil level is low or it is too cold.I have this when it is cold, once the oil heats up, if you turn the ignition off then on, it will be gone. Dont worry about it fella it is normal.

Thanks folks

I just didn't want anything going tits up with the furby!

I have done the switch on/off thing and that works so if its pretty normal then its all ok!

Checked the water level as I left work and its down a little but not much so i topped it up anyway!

How come the dashboard in Kms rather than miles?

How come the dashboard in Kms rather than miles?

Its a sample pic from google ;)

For future reference, the light circled is coolant (hence looking like a thermometer sitting on water), and it going off even when the expansion tank is above MIN is a sign of a dodgy sensor (plenty on here about it - cheap fix, although a top-up to MAX may do it too!)

The oil light is the one below (looking like an oil-fashioned oil can).

Sorry if that's teaching you to suck eggs, but you really don't want to get the two confused! :o

PS: The garage may be mistaken* if they said they replaced the coolant level sensor - it's integral to the expansion tank, so the whole unit would need to have been replaced...

*That's a diplomatic "may be mistaken"...
