Dealer margin is it 15%?

I think it's 8% on the front end plus some cars carry other incentives at certain times.

If you want 15% you need to go and look at Ford.

when i was given an exchange on an 04 fabia vrs which was rejected because of faults it was 12% on that car

Plus there are %bonuses too, e.g. if they sell 5 cars they might get an extra 1%, 20 cars an extra 5%, hence sometimes a really stonking deal can be had, as one extra sale could lead to a massive extra bonus.

Hi Tom, I've just started a post on best discounts for vRS Octavia. I need to find a dealer looking for that magic deal with the extra discount! I noticed the following deal on buyacar.co.uk:

Summary Price

Skoda Octavia 2.0T FSI vRS 5dr Hatchback £ 15,751

Metallic - Race blue £350

17" Zenith alloy wheels £0

Climatic air conditioning with automatic regulation £0

Maxidot £120

Cruise control £180

12 months road fund license (tax) £0

Driven delivery within England and Wales - free Transporter delivery within England and Wales - £280.00 Driven delivery to Scotland - £180.00 Transporter delivery to Scotland - £400.00 Driven/Ferry delivery to Belfast - £180.00 Collection from Buyacar London office - free help £0

Full Skoda warranty

New UK Skoda dealer supplied

Part exchange welcome

Finance options available

Total buyacar on the road (OTR) price £16401

What do you think to that?

Skoda have a current offer which gives free equipment upgrades -

18" wheels

Jumbo Box/Armrest

Dual Zone Aircon

Rear Electric Windows

Those should be included in a car which is sourced from a UK dealer, albeit by a broker.

Is the free 18" alloy/rear leccy window/dual zone climatronic/jumbo box freebie not included? Well worth getting for the vRS.

Free vRS upgrades

EDIT: Beaten to it :P

I would like those free options! Especiallt the 18 inch rims!

sloppy typing forgive me!

You would be wise to have those goodies on the car. Would be helpful when it eventually comes to selling the old girl.

Besides, the jumbo box and 2zone make a massive difference to the interior.

That sounds good Tom, I'll look into that thanks.

y dont u look at motorpoint website, octavia vrs in silver 18 inch alloys etc etc £14500 approx!!!! wot a bargain.

******! I've heard of somebody getting nearly 14%

I believe Ford is 10%...

BMW dealers get 15%!!! And I've been offered 14%, which is why I'm having a trauma about getting one or going for a deal on a Scout.... despite the sh!tty engines ;)

If they get 14% then I would think that is all of the front end margin and most of the back end so probably a reg bonus or a dealer in need of a target.

Skoda work in quarters and a new one has recently started so dealers might not be desperate just yet.

Maybe I need to wait a little then? Made a couple of enquiries today but no-one got back to me. Maybe christmas might be another story?

Be wary of buyacar/drive the deal. When I enquired, although they would match the free upgrade offer from Skoda, the car would be pre-registered, ie shown as 1 previous owner. Something didn't sit right with me about this...

I mentioned these companies to my dealer and his response was (though I know he was bound to say this!) he explained that Skoda themselves had tried to place an order for a car as a test and ended up losing their deposit money of £500. Quite likely all dealer BS but.... Up to you in the end.

My local dealer offered a £1500 disocunt off new without any haggling...which included all the FOC upgrades.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do...

Cheers

Thanks for that cider, maybe I should just get down to farmers in Leicester (my local dealer) and find out what they can do for me. After all I’ve not even driven the petrol vRS yet, only the tdi vRS that I was taken with but held back in the summer when my dad passed away. My little boy is really taken with the race blue and I don’t want to disappoint him too (still amazed by the motorpoint deal!)

Oh well will keep looking tomorrow...

Just seen this after replying on the other post! No worries. Get down there and haggle!! :)

Drive the deal will supply you a new car not a pre-reg with the option pack as they are new builds from a dealer.

No idea why they told you that, but that is a rumour that a lot of dealers have tried on with me, but DTD proved were not true.

I can understand why they might be upset with all the discount. Its all fair in love and business tho!

I had a dealer explain to me how it worked and iirc it was 7-8% straight and then some bonus's they get from Skoda and some sort of a dealership award for hitting monthly figures. Everything all in came to 15% so I set my target at 16% plus a free tank of 98ron

The haggling is always the best bit of buying a car imo! :o

Lee

sounds like I need you in my corner when it comes to the haggling! maybe we ought to have a thread for the best dealer octy vRS prices negotiated by briskonians!
