Check they don't do what some other companies do and sell you a pre-registered car....ie no 1 previous owner business

Crikey, I got £14k for my 06 vRS when I px/d it.

Personally, I would find a good main dealer and stick with them, just my own preference I'm not a great fan of car supermarkets.

I don't see the problem, other than saving £3k+ on the list price. Of course if you're loaded....

Too right that was one of my questions in my email (perhaps thats why i didnt get a response!)

I guess you need to weigh up the pros and cons such as where are the warranty repairs made if there is a problem; local skoda dealer? I wouldn't want to travel for that (been there done that... Leicester to sutton Coldfield for my old 9-3 coup)

Yep local skoda dealer. They cannot refuse to do the work because the car wasn't sourced through the UK dealer network.

Thanks Jonno, need to ask these questions don't you... Certainly not loaded (poor nhs worker!)

dont want to pay a hefty deposit up front like the illustration on the skoda vRS website

You can get the dealer to use the discount as part of the deposit, making the amount you need to pay up front less (not sure if they're really meant to do it tho')

Good point! Worth a try to keep things low for starters.

anyone managed to get a good deal on price with finance (pcp)?

But still over a grand more @ DTDthan Motorpoint, and Motorpoint cars are in stock. C

Mine was only prereg'd for my convenience, I could have been first keeper, it just meant hassle getting Insurance docs there on time , suppose I should have used their free 7 days cover, DOH!didnt think at the time. Heard before that their responses can be slow to e-mail phones etc, probably as they are normally busy selling cars tp people who turn up on site!

still looking... I dont have the bottle to go for the motorpoint deal without seeing the car in the flesh (old fashioned I know).

I gather from responses I have received. May need to change my choice to silver/ black unless I decide to wait for a factory build.

I probably wouldn't go for black again but then this is the third black car I've had in a row. Looks good when cleaned but it's a pain keeping it that way.

Race blue is a bit common and quite in yer face but I still like it.

I saw a silver one the other day and that looked good, - very stealthy.

I've been to look at a Silver vRS today at Motorpoint, 5 miles on the clock, 3 year warranty, 18s etc for £14599 (£14299 + £300 warranty) really nice, I'm gonna get one in the new year after christmas as we have a new baby on the way so I want a new one, can't find a cheaper new one with 3 year warranty anywhere!!!!!!!!!!

I am behind a 1.9 TDI Octavia PD Ambiente

Done a market survey.

Little bit confused with cons of import car ..

Have a look at allbrandsnew, motorpoint, buycar, jamcars..

All offers 2400 -1300 compared to Retail showroom price..

As a customer do we loose anything by purchasing by direct marketing/Import Cars...

You'll get less at resale for first 3 or 4 years and you don't get 3rd year of warranty.

Since you pay less to buy new anyway and you can buy a 3rd year warranty neither of these things really matter.

I recently sold my wife's 04 Scenic privately. It was an import but was above UK spec (had climate control as opposed to manual A/C). It was over 3 years old so was out of warranty whichever way you looked at it. Initially I told callers it was an import and most couldn't wait to put the phone down. In the end I decided not to tell prospective buyers (I would have told them if they asked me directly) and I quickly sold the car. I tucked the certificate of conformity in the back of the stereo brochure!.....Am I a really bad person?

The point is it makes not a jot of difference that it's an import (as Jonno said these cars are all imports anyway, and as Jonno also said it has no bearing on the insurance) but the mass general public still have a built in fear of these cars.

The local Renault dealer were always OK with us but sometimes I felt they wanted to "punish" us for buying an import. For example when an electric window broke they proudly told us that as it was an import they were unable to contact us about a recall on this fault, even though they serviced the car.

I'm not saying don't do it, just something to be aware of.

I'd always be wary of a personal import when buying second hand but when it has come from somewhere like Motorpoint it wouldn't bother me particularly.

If you tell someone your car's an import they would usually assume it to be the latter. Tell them it's from Motorpoint (or any other car supermarket) and it probably wouldn't even register that the car was an import.

Point taken...it was from a car supermarket (AllBrandsNew).

As that's what it said on the numberplates it was fairly obvious I suppose.

I put new plates on my Golf straight away as I didn't want to advertise that I was a tight **** who bought his car from a car supermarket

EDIT what's wrong with the word a r s e anyway?

Being chased by motorpoint at the moment over my vrs purchase, I just dont want black or silver right now. My own dealer in Leicester is offering a reasonable deal but is currently £600 pounds out from me shaking on the deal. wish he could go the extra as Im happy with the dealers right now (farmers, Leicester).

I've found the same motorpoint have rung me about 6 times trying to pester me into a deal tho!!! Just not ready to buy it just yet!
