Really shat myself other night...

Featured Replies

excuse the title of the thread, but its what nearly happened!!

I turned right into petrol station, and parked in front of the shop (not a big forecourt, and a nice 180 degree right hand turn) and turned my engine off and lights to get out. After doing so, I open the door, and the "Lights on" beep starts. So i close the door, make sure my lights are fully clicked off, then try again. The beep starts. I get out, close the door, lock it, unlock it, and re-open the door and the beep is continuing.

"Great" i think..thinking that something is wrong with the electrics, and after having a look at the front of the car, my drivers side side-light is on, so i get even angrier thinking "just what i need, an electrical fault as I am going out."

I get back in the car, start it up and move it to the side of the building (90 degree left turn) turn lights off and get out. The beeping this time has stopped.

The cause?

Found out, by accident, that if you leave an indicator on when you turn the engine off and turn the lights off, the car will beep at you to tell you that you have left the indicator stalk up or down (the sidelight that is on tells you) and continues to beep.

Anyone else come across this and also nearly shat themselves or got angry when they think the car has a fault?!

its the parking lights - all vag products do the same

Yes and yes.

Had that a few years ago with the wife ringing me up at work... "Turn the indicators off dear" :)

Done that on my brand new Fabia. Thought the bulb had blown.

Yeah, been there, done that. Though just before thinking "stupid cr*p car" or similar and venting at it... I thought, let's see if there's any lights on.... oh... :( :o OK, neat feature, know about that one know :)

It's because I'm nearing seniority.... At least, I think that's what they said.... :D

exactly ... it's expected.

Haha i stood in front of my car scratching my head looking at the headlight thinking "what the...?"

my corsa had this feature as well

annoying and largely useless

I have never parked on such a road :)

I had the same when we first got the car left the indiactors on and bing, bing, bing, could not understand what was wrong.

At least I know now, my grandad has a ibiza 1.2 reference and he had that problem last week and I was able to tell him.

My Skoda dealer told me about it when I bought it :]
