Purchasing an Octavia vRS - what should be included?

Featured Replies

Just been to see a Silver 2001 Octavia vRS advertised for 26, 000 miles

Seemed to be in good condition etc and we haggled about the price of car as part exchange etc.

However, the dealer would not include any road tax or warranty with the deal. He stated in order to keep the warranty up to date I would have to purchase an extra year for

Depends when in 2001 it was registered. They came with 3 years unlimited mileage warranty at that age. I'm making a guess that it is just over the 3 years as it has no tax. :( They don't have to include a warranty if it's over the 3 years, but it would be nice.

As for the tax, that's just disgraceful.

Looking on the Skoda UK website, they are listing 3 silver RSs at under 10k, but they all have bigger miles ie over 50k. I'd avoid a certain one of those, as I know its history.

If you buy a used Skoda from a Skoda dealer who advertises their used cars on Skoda UK's website (and not all do), then the car comes with the following benefits:

Cheers 4 the quick replies guys

Yeah I thought it would come with 6 months tax (in fact I thought most dealers would do that buy he there you go)

Cheers for the heads up TaviaRS, unfortunately Bristol is a bit far for me, coming from Newcastle  I don't think I can justify going that far.

Have also looked at the Skoda site but cars for the same price have double the mileage and this dealer is not approved by the looks of it. Bloomin' typical.

It's for

I know how you feel I was lucky to stumble on my Y reg last October there was only that one in the entire North West Auto Trader.

It's worth holding out a few days/weeks as they are regularly available. Alternatively, make it a day out and travel the distance to the dealer who's got one at your price. Maybe even someone here local can have a look first to make sure it is not a dog?

just ring him up and say you want the car but want 6 months tax, 12 months warrenty then let him sweat. I managed to get

Hi there,

As it happens I'm selling my Black Octavia vRS at the moment. I hail from near Glasgow, so Newcastle isn't too far really.

You can see my car in the for sale section, or in Autotrader next friday (30th Apr). If you need any more info just PM/e-mail me.

If you're interested I could sort out some kind of meet half way kind of distance?

Regards,

Phil OctaVRS.

PS. I'll even put new road tax on it for you and it's still under warranty!!!

When I bought the 1.6LX the dealer did not include tax and the warrenty was 2 months! My vRS of course still had 2 years of its Skoda warranty left.

Don't beleive that "small margin" rubbish.

I bet he never gave more that

when i bought my vRS i got the same thing with the road tax. The dealer said he couldnt put any on it and i ended up paying for 12 months.

What i did do was get
