Could you turn your caps lock off for the next post please Sadielou. Ta.

I would think your problems with Shell fuel are isolated, I've been using it for years.

are caps an issue ??

as for the fuel god know perhaps the car just doesnt like it wont use it again in this one have been in touch with shell anyway and they say there was no problem on the dates i used the fuel, never mind ay its all good fun xxsadielouxx:P

Cap. locks indicate that you are shouting and can be seen ( by some ) as offensive.

I only ever use 'cheap' fuel i.e. Asdas or the local Jet station, and have never had any issues. I don't think higher ron fuel or 'premium' fuel makes a jot of difference to the average commute, or in day to day driving conditions tbh.

As Graham says it's normally seen as shouting in the mysterious world of the internet forums :P

Good to hear its ok :)

I run mine on Shell seems ok, Its not the expensive one though Shell Extra It seemed better than the BP ultimate used to smoke like the Titanic, when i put that in .You must have a fussy car.

Misfires?

Hope your coil packs are ok.

Never have any prob myself with high octane fuel.

The only reason my old Cavalier had misfires when using Shell Optimax was because the engine was complete garbage!

'Ecotec lump Sir?'

'No thanks, I'll walk because I know my legs will get me there!'

lmao konw what ya mean !! i think like someone said the car must just be fussy - bit likes its owner i suppose !! and its not the coil packs i have a spare set and it did it with them on too its fine now its had some of its 'usual' fuel ran through it xsadieloux :P

Never had any problem running any car on any Shell fuel...

On the caps lock point, aside from being seen as shouting on many fora, it makes your post harder to read.

Helpful hint (maybe not on Vista) Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Accessibility Options -> Check "Toggle Keys". This makes your computer beep whenever you hit Caps Lock, Num Lock or the Scroll Lock key.

Never heard of an issue with Shell before (but have heard of or had issues with cheap fuel).

I very much doubt its a fussy car, there must be a fault somewhere when so many others on this forum including myself run it with excellent results.

Could it be a problem with the petrol stations fuel tanks where you got the fuel from?

i have been in contact with shell throughout my problems and they have checked the fuel/tanks etc on the dates i brought the fuel and have had no other complaints or saw that there was anyting wrong with the fuel xsadieloux:P

I've always ran mine on shell v-power with no problems at all.

I do regular diagnostic scans too just to be sure!

Sounds like there is an underlying problem somewhere - I wouldn't accept either shell denying problems or the garage telling you the "car just doesn't like it" as both sound like potential cop-outs to me :thumbdwn:.

Get another opinion from a mechanic who knows their stuff!

I've never had any problems with Shell fuel either. Except the price of V-Power recently. The Tescos near my work have just started doing the 99 RON stuff for 99.9p per litre so I know where I'll be going in future.

Tesco 99 ron is great fuel. The police always fill up with it in Wrexham and they have a few skoda vrs estates. I also find that Texaco normal is as good as the shell v power. My car runs great on either.:)

Just a thought Sadielou, when was the last service and therfore fuel filter changed? Never had issues with any fuel, and as listed above if it is isolated to your car and Shell have confirmed no reported issues with the batch of fuel you used I might be tempted to check the filter. Does the Octy have 2 fuel filters same as VW bothers ? I think there's one at the base of the fuel tank and then just before the injectors too (shoot me down in flames if it doesn't) ????
