Common Faults on the VRS

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I'm looking into buying a Skoda Octavia VRS 2002 model. I just want to find out a little more about them. Can someone tell me what are the common faults on these cars? Also is there any parts that must be replaced at certain mileage? How reliable are they? Whats economy like?

Cheers

Only thing to really worry about is the Cambelt and water pump.

They need doing every 60k not 80k like some people think so as long as that has been done.

Other than that the suspension bushes can go but they will knock and squeek so you will know when they have gone.

Whats the MPG like, with it being a turbo? Also, whats the drive like? Hard & stiff or smooth & comfortable?

Economy depends on what driving you are doing. Expect mid to high twenties around town to high thirties on a run.

Go and drive one and make your own mind up re: ride!

The ride is comfortable.

It doesn't break your back cross country but isn't like a jelly through corners as LLad said just go and test drive one

Are these FWD or RWD?

it FWD mate and test drive it and u see it for yourself

i'd be tempted to add the 'Engine coolant light coming on when cold' as a niggle. Nothing to worry about though

Coolant light is easily fixed, temp gauge gets a tad dirty just give it a clean and wack some more water in ;)
