Koni FSDs - Where to have them fitted?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a MY07 Octavia VRS, and am considering getting the Koni FSDs fitted to smooth the ride out, but I have a few questions...

Any recommendations where I should go to get them fitted? Is this something my local dealer can/will do? Will it affect my warranty if I get it done but at a non-dealer garage? What's a reasonable price to pay to have them fitted (I see Awesome GTI sell them for around £300)?

Also, for those that have them fitted - did it affect your insurance?

I'm in North Herts / South Cambs.

Cheers,

Ben.

In thoery it will effect your warranty even if a dealer does do it.

They should be declared to your insurance, shouldn't increase your premium much if any.

Many of the tuners will offer a fitting service including Awesome.

Insurance wise it depends who you are insured with. Sainsbury's weren't too keen on them for me.

I'm with Direct Line - anyone have any experience of this sort of thing with them?

Ben.

Best to phone before you buy.

I would agree with Stu. The company that Michael Winner advertises for get upset if you buy a brand new car and add to it after delivery from "the options list", as it is "not to the manufacturers standard"!!!

Had loads of problems with them when I had a the genuine VW sports pack fitted after delivery to a Bora 150TDI I had a couple of years ago. Aparently it would have been ok if it had come from the factory that way, but not ok to retro fit?!? I used the exact same parts & the dealer fitted them; they wanted to increase my premiums by £400!!!

In contrast my mate has just fitted a full body kit & 18" alloys to his Mondeo ST, told his insurance company, they added £38 to his premium

Go figure!

i can vouch for awesomes fitting service .they did my mk1 vrs and it was a very pleasing customer experience.well worth the 90 mile drive there, even better on the way back ;)

JabbaSport in Crowland, Nr. Peterborough will be your nearest Koni retailer and they are very Briskoda friendly.

Personally, I used JKM in Portsmouth; a bit of a trip but excellent service and price.

JKM did mine the first time as part of the purchase deal but I removed them and refitted them to my new car myself.

OOh thank you for the thumbs up guys

Yes we can fit these

We are the biggest retailer in the UK for Koni

As for warranty purposes , the FSD`s will only invalidate warranty on parts assosiated with the suspension you have added

So it will not effect the engine , just the suspension

I'm considering having Koni FSDs fitted to my estate but I'm still not sure how effective they are in smoothing out what I think is quite a harsh ride, especially on rough roads. I'd be grateful for comments on this.

It's been pretty well discussed here already the FSD's are excellent. You may wish to retain the OEM springs if you want a softer ride although I don't think the ride is harsh with the Eibach ones.

Sorry mate but can't be done; FSDs only fit the hatch not Combi/Estate or 4x4.
