few tips for the satnav:

make sure you have the latest phone firmware which is 12.0.013 (check firmware ver by typing *#0000# into phone)

make sure you have the latest version of nokia maps which is on the nokia website.

Make sure you have at least the UK map loaded onto your memory card (using nokia maploader on your PC can pre-load the maps, otherwise the phone will try to download it as it goes and can run up massive data bills)

and the most important one (the above are prerequisites to this): Assisted GPS.

on the tools/general/positioning menu make sure you have assisted GPS, intergrated GPS and Network based enabled and also ensure you have an access point defined in the positioning server section..

all this does is download a tiny amount of data from nokia that gives the current position of the sattelites, it will make getting a GPS lock much quicker (although the first few times will still take upto a couple of minutes, plus the receiver isnt very sensitive so will not work indoors)

hope this helps

wtf? lol

my software is well out of date, its version 10 ish iirc, guess its off to cpw for a upgrade at their engineers store

If you have a PC and broadband, just install the nokia software and upgrade through that... make sure you do a backup first tho!

yep it works.. best phone ive ever owned :) only criticism is the lack of system memory.. only has 64mb for running programs... the n95 8gb has 128mb for running programs

Yep, it works very well. Key thing though, as mentioned, is make sure you have the latest firmware.

I'll have a play with the apps later, thanks Neo_VR.

Any joy with N95's and factory fit bluetooth yet, got an N95 sitting in the draw after finally giving up on it myself and reverting back to my trinity.

I'm only a geek in training remember lol

great...but can someone post an idiot proof guide on how to install it....as I transferred the .sis file, and installed, but it did naff all!

There must be more to do, but the readme makes no sense whatsoever!

connect phone to computer.

run program.

follow instructions.

really is that simple, make sure you have Nokia PC suite installed and the phone in PC suite mode :)

you may have to install the n95 accelerometer plugin on that page before the app... i had to install 2 files, the plugin and the app

Glad it's not just me then! With my Alpine it will connect OK, and I can answer and start calls, but I can't download the phonebook/dialled numbers etc. Apparently something about Nokia using a slighty amended standard for the Bluetooth stack (as I understand it) and it's therefore proving largely incompatible with 3rd party devices???

Anyone with more info? :holmes:

I've got the same issue with my Tomtom 910. Can make and receive calls fine, but the text to speech doesn't work and I can't upload the phone book.

My V3i I had no trouble with at all.

Had the same problem a few years ago with my old N70 and TomTom GO 500. I contacted Nokia and they said it was an issue with the TomTom not supporting the phone! TomTom said it would probably be supported in future firmwares!

Ive just spent 15 minutes playing with that ball :P There could be some very good games out using this in the furure?

Yep, it's to with the BT standard then- I'm sure.

According to details I've managed to gather, 3rd parties, such as Alpine are waiting for Nokia to sort this in a forthcoming fix/update. When this will happen though is another matter entirely.

Might talk to Nokia directly, if any of my direct numbers still work :D
