vRS SE badging

Featured Replies

when I got my vRS SE in April, the dealer said that if I so desired, he could get a friendly neighbourhood screenwriter to make SE badging up for me - I said I'd think about it.

having now met said screenwriter ;) (and can now cut out the middleman) I am considering it further, but wondering what to get done.

I have mocked up some stickers and would like opinions.

I'm not sure if it should have just the SE initialling, or the full "Special Edition" text. Similarly I am not sure whether or not to include my number.

(then, of course there are all the questions of font, size and colour)

I've only done rear badging, there is also the idea of "SE" somewhere around the indicators on the front wings.

what do you think of the different placings below ? (you might have to zoom in to see them) Presumably if other SE owners are keen, we could turn this into a group buy (if the sticker maker is willing)

hmm.... I like it and I don't .... can't quite put my finger on it... lol

if all the SE's had special edition numbers /badges on the outside then yeah it would be alright, but i dont like the "slaped on" look, if you get me. leave it as it is:) it doesnt need extra sticky bits!

I know what you mean Leon, that may be what I meant in the above post lol. It does look a bit 'added on'

The last one I think looks the best (On the left). But I'd loose th 0 before your 82, so its just 82/1000

yeah loz lol! i think it just looks a bit cluttered/ busy. why not get a personal number plate bit where you could do something in the box where GB would usually go?

If you have to do it, I reckon the first one looks best. However, I think debadging the rear completely would make it look even better :D

Chris

I don't really like it either....I don't know why....maybe if I had to choose one, it would be the simplest one with just the SE badge.

because that would be an MOT failure now, wouldn't it?

I'm not keen :thumbdwn:

I don't think you need the extra badges looks fine the way it is.

except for the fact that it needs a wash, right ?;)

Yes but it's MOT is still some way off ;):D

i dont think so... i've seen plenty of cars have it, in the pic you added the one with the flag thing (green symbol) looks too big but if you was to get one like this...

Or a normal plate with writing underneath?

except for the fact that it needs a wash, right ?;)

Given the time of year.. I'll let you off :D

It is technically illegal, but whether the police would be bothered to stop you, so long as the font on the registration itself was correct and correctly spaced, I have no idea. I had ScoobyDoo on my Scooby registration plates where the GB normally is, but the car was registered in 1998 so I don't think was subject to the new format laws.....

Think the SE bit looks ok - not sure about the numbers, I was looking for some stick ons in chrome (SE) like the rest of the Badging

im always of a view that if you put writing all over your car saying its super duper spetial edtion then theres more chance its going to get nicked!!:(

k:)

Here's my suggestions:

1. Remove the dealer sticker.

2. Remove the "fabia" badge (fishing line and a hair dryer does the job).

3. And if you really, really want an SE identification, just the SE after the VRS badge IMO.

Isnt the fact that its blue enough? afterall anybody that is interested will probably know and anybody that doesnt probably wont care

The car looks great as it is, I would leave it alone, at the very most add New octavia vRS badges.

Another vote for leaving it alone, they all look ****. However if you somehow added the SE onto the existing vRS badge that could look good. But would require a new chromed badge being made up.

Also, get rid of that terrible sticker from the rear window :)

I'm generally not in favour, but think one and two look best from your mock ups. I'm sure the 'photoshop' effect doesn't help that 'just added on' look that everyone seems to be complaining about though!!!

I'd feel a little bit skeptical about advertising the uniqueness of my car to people as well tbh. As somebody said, in its current state those who care will know and the rest would think you a bit of a sad git for sticking stickers on your car to broadcast it's specialness to the world. Kepp it classy and as it is IMO.

I have to say I'm intrigued by the widespread "less is more" attitude being shown. Not upset by it, or in opposition to it (though I'm not going to start taking any badges off), just intrigued.

but i know my efforts at photoshop can't do justice to how an end product would actually look.

If it were me, I'd get the either the first piccie or the last one.

Just the fact it is race blue, is far more of a statement without the additions needed and far easier to see as you vanish into the distance :-)
