Remote Hatch Opening

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a bit of an issue with my new VRS with the hatch sticking.

When I open the boot using the button on the key fob I hear a solenoid energise for maybe a second or so, the hatch pops up a bit then the solenoid de-energises. If you then try and lift the hatch it's still caught on what seems to be a secondary catch. If you physically lift the hatch at the same time as the solenoid operates there is no problem.

Anyone had a similar problem or is it a safety 'feature'

Keep the button pressed longer.

This is a feature of the car. If you press the button and open the boot rightaway then it will open fully.

If you press the button and wait a few seconds then it will leave the boot ajar but it will not open until you press the rubber button on the boot.

Yea a feature of the car alright ...THAT DOESN'T WORK PROPERLY :D

Is that so? It's happened a couple of times on my Fabia, but when it's done it, I've always pushed the spring by the latch in a couple of times 'cos I thought it was sticking a bit. Always seemed to do the trick, but from what you say it might have just been the placebo effect...?

They can adjust the catch to try and make it work how it should, but if it doesn't fix it then the dealer said that skoda said that is was a characteristic (read something we won't fix) of the car.

Its put there incase you press the button on the Fob by mistake.

This way your boot won't fly open when you are driving.

I think it works very well.

If you listen you will hear the boot release than wait a couple of seconds and you will hear it hold the boot lid shut.

Personally I think its a good idea. In saying that, I don't press the key fob until I am standing next to the car.

Some people press it halfway across the car park. The first thing i think of is "What a ****"

Mine already had adjustments made but still the same.

Won't fix or CAN'T fix :rolleyes::D

Yeah mine too :(

Either way, i heard there is a work around... just open the car and press the boot release button on the tail gate. This way you won't experience the non functioning tail gate release issue again :D HTH

That's the way it works for me !!

Ooops can of worms.....

On my previous two cars (mondeo) the key released opened the tailgate properly so I expected the same... It's not that much of a problem but it would be nice if it worked.

yeah seems pointless, i always thought it was meant to open thus the boot open button.
