Cloud of bluish/grey smoke at high speed

Featured Replies

Hi all

Was just giving it a little bit of welly with a golf 2.0 TDI in tow (not attached;)) up a slip road and onto a motorway, when reaching a pretty high speed in 6th with my right foot still planted there was all of a sudden this large cloud of blueish/ grey smoke that billowed out of the exhaust, not the usual sooty smoke you allways get under acceleration.I lifted of immediately and it was gone as quick as it came,so I am slightly worried now. I tried to reproduce the smoke whilst accelerating hard in lower gears and nothing so whats going on?

Is it turbo hose leak at only at high pressures ?or something worse?:(

Car has been remapped, but I do drive it kindly and has been thoroughly serviced at the 20 000 mile point as well as at 10 000miles and even when I bought it at 14 000 no warning lights show and no fault codes to report before or after re mapping and that was 3 weeks ago.

any suggestions?

Sounds like a puff of oil given the colour. The intercooler pipes do get a little oily, so it may have been from there. Just a guess btw.
