The deed is done

Today we finalised the paperwork on the purchase of our new Octavia Scout. She will be in anthracite grey, with alcantara, active head restraints, heated seats, multifunction steering wheel with maxi dot, xenons and last but not least electric memory driver's seat and mirrors.

Thanks to everyone that has answered questions or responded to comment I have posted on here over the last week or so. Belated thanks also to everyone that has taken the trouble to post here generally as all the questions my dealer could not answer (and those I thought of a stupid o'clock in the morning while browsing the site) have been more than adequately dealt with by a quick search.

Just got to wait for delivery now, tentatively set for the end of this month.

Regards

Mark

Anthracite is a very nice colour, and compliments alloys perfectly.

Not see a Scout in that colour yet tho.

fantastic, bet you cant wait! vrs in 3 wks time :) gotta love skoda

Very exciting - don't forget to put some pics up here - I've not seen one in anthracite yet.

For info, I ummed and arrred about a scout for ages, and went with a 2.0TDI Elegance on the grounds I only need 4x4 about 5 times a year, but in a twist of fate, the garage put petrol in my car, and then lent me a scout for a week while they fixed it! Unfortuntely, a week was long enough for the wife and I to fall in love with the scout! Argh. So... envious, but the Elegance is great too.

Cheers,

Les.

thats the color im looking at for my next car most likely.. saw it a few months ago on a car in the local dealers and fell in love with it.

Sounds like a great spec and colour choice. A car I wouldnt mind myself infact.

Good luck with it. :)

Congratulations to you ........ had a test run in a scout and loved it, however the car fund just couldn't quite stretch to it so bought a 55 plate 4x41.9 with only 5800 milesd on the clock for 13k.

Please put some piccys up when you get her.

Envious

( and Sylvia, my Octy )

I've got the alcantara trim in my Scout but don't have heated seats (not sure about the active head restraints, do they look different?). Does anyone know when heated seats started being included with alcantara or have a pre august 07 Sout with them? The brochure I have does not list Scout options.

The dealer told me that when you order the alcantara interior then the active head restraints and heated seats are flagged as a mandatory option. They still have to have the boxes ticked, but the spec sheet shows they should be ordered with the alcantara.

Anyway, while looking we came across 2 identical cars in Satin Grey destined for the same dealer , the only difference being one did not have the active HR or heated seats - looks like the dealer in question forgot to order them :)

Well, got a call form CDG earlier in the week to say that we could pick the car up today. Went down to the garage and Dan had made sure it was a) ready and B) kept out of the rain after it was cleaned so I could inspect it properly. Nice touch.

Anthracite is SUCH a classy colour and the car was much better than we were expecting, bearing in mind we had not seen a Scout with our choice of options in the flesh. The leather is great, the memory seats are cool and the car generally is awesome (OMG! Did I REALLY say that about a Skoda!?!).

Pictures below, with my baby in the background of the first one :) as the Scout is actually our main family runaround AKA my wife's car.

Just need to sort out the Sat Nav, the Bluetooth kit and anything else that sounds like a good idea.

God I'm jealous - looks superb (forgive pun). I very much like the solid, no gimmicks look of the Scout, and anchracite suits very well. You must be looking forward to some snow!

I remember something that impressed me, when I picked mine up, is the quality of the paint - it looks and FEELS silky - really good. Never noticed that before - with Fords at least. Might be the wax Skoda use...

Thanks for the pics, Les.

Definitely looking forward to the snow, driving down to the Alps in a couple of months - just enough time to run the car in properly and get used to how it behaves itself. :)

Fantastic - I had a Scout as a courtesy car for a week, which coincided with going down to Somerset. My main impression is that the 4WD is just bomb proof - it was actually very hard to get it to lose grip on sand and mud. The hillstart works well too. Terrific system. The Alps will be brilliant I'm sure.

BTW - I did find the 2.0TDI quite easy to stall in the early days - but thats fine now with 2500 miles on the clock - not sure if its me or the engine has changed.

Cheers,

Les.

Kick off it can seem a little sluggish (low milage demo we had and a short spin in our this pm) and so maybe the stalling thing was down to a tight engine and not enough revs. ???

It'll loosen up!

Looks nice tho MarkyW. Give it a week and the Mrs will have the signature rim scuff on the alloys, scratches around the door handles/boot lid and roof (where they place the handbag whilst they press the remote unlock button)!:rofl:

Harsh...and normally true but my Mrs is as fastidious about her car as I am about mine. 1st pic, the one in the background is mine. Will be 13 in February and has only a couple of minor scuffs and a door ding in the off side rear quarter. Was making inquiries at the Skoda garage while we were there about their SMART repair service to get rid of those :)

Lucky b'stard!!! My Mrs sees cars as merely a tool that gets from here to there. The Leon had its first door ding at 2 days, the front bumper badly scratched on a kerb at 4 days old...1st scuffed alloy at 5 days....2nd at 7days. Roof marks at 2 weeks. Its been Chips-Away'd twice in 3 years to bring it back into full fettle! :o

Strangely, she's been OK with the Octy which we've had for nearly 20 weeks (got it 3 days after birth of our son).... maybe the message is getting through.;)

Or maybe she is being more careful as she has your offspring in the car and not driving it like a dodgem anymore :)

Not saying the wife is perfect, but her scrapes tend to be more accidental than careless (reversing into a low post, someone using her car as a marker to judge a space's size, that kind of thing).

Nice 1 - yep that colour certainly suits & alcantara looks neat - enjoy.

Lovely looking car

That'll be a TDI 140 with a DPF then judging by the pointy-out-the-back exhausts. No smoke screen shinanigans for you then! :D

Lovely looking car and it'll do you proud in the slushy stuff - enjoy

Glad you like it, had mine 3 weeks now and 2500 on clock, getting about 48 mpg on a really good motorway run, had it off road today on a really soft and muddy farm track and it didn,t blink an eye and sailed through i ,not sure just how good it would be on the rough stuff but be nice to see how she copes this winter in the ice and snow, only one downside so far, every now and then i struggle to get 1st gear usually first thing in morning when cold but it,s not as frequent as it was, anyone else had a similar problem.

Hi Congrats !!! We are in same position today, slightly different model, Anthracite Grey metalic 4x4 Amb estate, paperwork 98% finished, customs cleared, seen car. Will take over car end of week, with temp plates for 5days until our plates arrive.

Congratulations! I have a standard 2.0 TDi 4x4 in Anthracite with a similar spec (no alcantara but maxidot, multi function wheel, active headrests, heated seats, alloy wheel upgrade, towbar, Parrott 3200 etc.) and it is proving excellent. Everyone who goes in it is well impressed and the heated seats are superb in this weather (as I hope the 4x4 will be come the snow!).

For info mileage wise we've been getting anything from 47mpg to 55mpg (former round town the latter on a steady run to Northern Ireland)!

Hi, just curious how the russian registration plate system works - does the plate you get depend on the area you live in or something to do with your license number?

Oops sorry I thought I read somewhere you were from Russia!

Nevermind.
