Chatting to a friend of a friend on Friday who has a new-to-them-6-months-ago Fabia Estate X reg 1.4 16V and they said the car's great save for the sluggish response on the throttle to get it going from standstill.

Now I remember seeing this criticism in all the first off reviews for the Fabia, and wondered if this is something that they could take to a dealer to get adjusted? If so what might they need to tell the dealer to improve it? [No suggestions of buying devonutopia's spare engine please ]

My 1.4 16v has the same thing - very noticeable throttle lag due to the drive-by-wire system.

Think it's also something to do with complying with EU legislation for lower emissions?

I'd be interested to know if it can be "sorted" or not too...
