National Meet, any suprises?

Featured Replies

Well lads looked like yee had a great day! (understatement I reckon ;) ) Congrats to all involved. Really wish we could have made it over, hopefuly next time...

Just wondering how the various tuner cars faired? was there any unoffical timing ;) or even just observations?

BTW how did standard cars stand up to the tuned examples?

Cheers

Fergal

there was no timing.. its not allowed...

std cars were not as fast as tuned cars... but as most of the heavily tuned cars were not on track at the same time as the std ones then it was not possible to judge how much faster.....;)

AFAIK there was no timing official or otherwise. Everyone was fairly evenly matched. The Fabias surprised a few people (didn't they, Dave ;) ).

The expected people were quick - for the Octys Paul and the SDI Taxi, James JBS etc. Bill (Badger5) blitzed everybody in his Ibiza, the Supras were quick on the straights. The Leon Cupra R's were very quick too. The drivers of the Elise/Exige/VX220s got a bit of a shock to find some Octys are just as quick or quicker round a track. I guess the tuned cars had the advantage down the straights, but brakes, suspension and tyres coupled with driver skill probably made a much more telling combination.

The porsche was incredibly quick... but the driver was incredibly slow :D

sorry will get a C4 next time......

Bill's Ibiza was the thing that really amazed me .... excluding the Noble, it definitely looked the fastest thing down the home straight and made a glorious noise as well  Also thought the red Fabia in Group A seemed to be doing pretty well in some pretty good company - who was that?

Yes we liked Bills Ibiza :)

C4 - wasn't that the Sinclair C5's predecessor?

Fergal my RS is standard and i found the remaped/chip cars had an advantage on the straights but not as much as i thought.I was in group B and only had trouble passing a green Seat, but i got passed him on the bends. I was only overtaken twice the whole day ,once by Badger5{group A} and once by the green Seat, and he only got passed because i had a slower car infront of me going into turn 1.

yeah I think that was Adaadams, I followed him home from a midlands meet @ 130 weaving past cars, I think he might be a bit Mad :D I don't think his car is quite standard ;)
