Warning light......

Featured Replies

Hi,

driving home this morning and my 'Testing Engine Electronics (Engine symbol)' light came on. I covered around 50 miles after this and the light is still on even after restarting the engine.

Can anyone tell me what has caused this to come on or more importantly how to solve it?

Thanks for the help,

Shaun.

Not from that we can't!

Do you have any fault codes, or any symptoms other than the EMS warning light?

i don't have anything to get fault codes,

it drives like it normally does, no strange noises, no loss of power:confused:

cheers,

Shaun.

yeah that will be the next step, i just wanted to see if anyone has had any experiences like this before? things that are simple to correct.

The skoda handbook says that if the engine check light comes on and it drives normally its usually emissions related.

I normally use shell petrol but my station was closed and i had to put in esso. within 5 mins of filling up the engine check light came. the next time i filled with shell and the light went out

i've been giving this some thought as the light is still on,

i've filled up this morning with different petrol but haven't used it enough yet to see if this was the problem.

since i've had the car (about a month) when off throttle it chatters really loudly, could this be anyway related to the warning light coming on, like a failed dv or pipework?

i'm planning to get it looked at the weekend but all opinions very welcome.

cheers,

Shaun.

changed the dv today, the chatter has gone :(, but the car drives 10 times better, alot more responsive :)

i reset the ecu the light has gone off, covered a few miles since and no sign of it yet.

the car will hopefully be on a rolling road tomorrow so i guess that will be the real test.
