Funny noises from turbo?

Featured Replies

Hi guys had my car remapped a few weeks since.....before I did I used to notice that when my turbo was spooling up it made a strange noise, its hard to describe, it sounds kinda like a vibrating whistling.

Anyway after my remap and some hard driving I am starting to notice this is gettin louder and doing it over more of the revvs, anyone any ideas what this is as its starting to concern me a little?

Thanks,

Danny

It's just the turbo spooling. My vRS whistles away plenty (remapped).

My STi did it also after the first remap on original VF35.

It's just the extra boost.

With you mentioning vibrating are you sure its not the flywheel?

I have no idea guys - i asked the guy at RS tuning when i was there he just said it was the turbo spooling - but it was just concerning me as its gettin louder, it especially makes more noise and feels less responsive after iv given it some beans......

Mine used to do that too, I described it as a fluttering sort of noise, got worse at this time of year but I just put it down to density of the air.

As long as its not a loud metallic screaching sound between 2-3k rpm then you should be ok!

does sound a bit metallic like - whats that mean?

I get a fluttery thing going on between 2.1k to 2.6k rpm on part throttle, which is both audible and can be felt, and as Bigw said it did seem worse today and yesterday when it has been very cold.

i have the loud screeching noise almost sounds like a steam kettle turns out the egr has dies so i am ordering a power pipe check round the egr for oil leaks
