Fabia Wiring

Featured Replies

Does anybody have any details on the wiring in a 2000 Fabia, 1.4 16V

I have checked the wiring from the throttle body to the ECU and found the Red/Green wire (Red with a green stripe) has no continuity

My concern is there is another Red/Green wire on the ECU.

It is obvious which wire goes to the throttle as the 4 pins are next to each other, but it would be nice to know where this other wire goes, maybe it is meant to join the other in the loom or something, so knowing this would be helpful.

What are the symptoms you have that lead you to checking continuity?

The car would not start and if it did it cut out soon, or if I touched the throttle

I was towed to the local garage by the AA. the garage then charged £58 to say that I needed a new throttle body, which would be another £400.

When I asked if they had tested the throttle, they said they can't, they just put a new part on and hope for the best, which does not sound good.

I took the car home, checked the other possibilities and found the wiring fault.

I have now put a temporary wire to replace the broken one, and the car runs fine, although I have not done a test drive yet, as I need to fit the new wire securely, and also want to find the break to check the other wires, do that tomorrow if the rain stops.

I am sure that the other wire is not involved with the problem, but I was surprised to see an identical wire on the same connector, so it would be useful to know, just in case.

Is it a 6 pin connector?

Pin 1 - Purple

Pin 2 - Purple/Red

Pin 3 - Brown/Blue

Pin 4 - Red/Green

Pin 5 - Blue/White

Pin 6 - Brown/Blue

It looks to me like Pin 4 is connected to Pin 84 on the 40 pin connector on the ECU.

This problem is all fixed, all runs well, although could not find the break just put a new wire in.

From Pin 4 it goes straight to Pin 92 (without any interruption) on connector T40a/92 at the engine ECU. Make sure the pins are tight and free from corrosion.
