That Ticking noise

Featured Replies

Have a annoying ticking coming from the dash area its about the frequency of a second hand on a clock ,its louder when the engine is cold and does not rise with revs or being stationary. The dealer has not said anything about it when it went in for a new a/c compressor and something switch also to do with the a/c we have done about 22000+ miles now and its been doing it for about 9000 miles, i am getting concerned as the warranty runs out 10/08 and it seems to be getting louder. One thing i did not say was it appears to go after an hours running.

Re that ticking noise ,its a Octavia 2.0 140bph dsg Elegance 55 plate

Hi and welcome to Briskoda  as fatty5000 said, try to repost your question in the Octavia Support section!

Sounds to me like the carbon canister... in which case would be perfectly audible under the bonnet, but shouldn't really be audible in the car... hmm

Hello and welcome. My dads Octavia developed a rattle after being at the dealers, after keeping at them it's now in bits getting a new engine. Hope you get it sorted soon.

My fuse box clicks in the cold, its a slim possibility but ................

To add another possibility, it could be a faulty climate control air flap. If you don't have access to diagnostic tools to scan for fault codes, see if changing the climate control settings (or turning climate control off) stops the noise.
