Better performance Octy II TD PDI 105?

Featured Replies

Would like to improve sad performance of Octy II TD PDI 105 bhp. Would remap ECU but have been forbidden to (company car). I guess shouldn't have asked! Any other simple suggestions to improve acceleration/torque etc?

Is a tuning box also on the forbidden list?

I fitted a Pipercross filter to my 140 DSG and that combined with the simple "cage mod" (using dielectric grease on the MAF connection) has given a noticeable increase in throttle response. The filter helps it hold what power it has for longer to on mine. Both are failry cheap, around £30 for the filter from awesome gti and nothing for my MAF as I had the required grease on the shelf in the garage.

depending on what you actually want, I susoect your options are limited, but maybe, just maybe you could sneak a tuning box past them :D

Since you have asked them about a remap, I now wouldn't try the tuning box option as if they find it you are likely to be in potentially serious ****.

Changing the air filter every 10k rather than 60k will help matters but otherwise not that much.

To be honest without a remap you ain't going to get much out of it. Best I can advise, based on my experience before a remap on my 105hp 1.9TDI, is a pannel filter and a dose of Millers Sport 4 in the tank every time you fill up.

You should get better throttle response and the car should pull a bit more at higher rev's.

Have you considered a switchable remap, where you can put the car back into 'stock' mode when required - or would that still be a no go?

Johnwg - I am considering this - It may still be a no go. Who does switchable re-maps?

I will take your and the previous posters' tips about an upgraded air filter. I have already got my first bottle of Millers Diesel Power Sport! Thanks.

Just be warned that skoda say you should not use fuel additives in the manual. ;)

How about a bit of lateral thinking; on the basis of 'it ain't what you drive but the way you drive it!' .....

Try an advanced performance driving course form these guys;- Ride Drive Ltd UK, Advanced Driving Course, Driver Training, Defensive Fleet Driving Course

I had a Fabia 1.4mpi previously and would frequently get the better of a driver in a more powerful car by driving it in a progressive more positive manner with good anticipation; actually quite fun at times.

PS> OK; more power and better handling always help, but you want to get the most out of what you have.

Revo, AMD and Superchips (I think) plus a few others no doubt :)

They'd never tell it was remapped, and the it won't turn it into a lamborghini so even if another member of staff was to drive it they wont be able to tell.

Doesn't the ECU record the number of flashes/remaps it has had? I remember seeing something on VAG-COM.

Wouldn't ordinarily be a problem unless something really bad happens to your engine/transmission and Skoda investigate it. That's what put me off a bluefin switchable map jobbie.

A 'stealth' tuning box would the sensible route as it cannot usually be traced - from what i've heard

A decent remap should see 135-140BHP so I think it would be quite obvious to a few people that it had been tinkered with.

Yes indeedee

I would be carefull about the post by sedicirich (no offence) but the flash counter will increment as it does with the vast majority of remaps, and also as mentioned, it would be obvious on a test run. You can see this in Vag-Com

And after all, if a Remap was not noticeable to a tech on a test run, would there be any point in having it :D Dealers are not as daft as some would believe.

Fluff, have fitted Pipercross filter & started using Millers diesel plus sport 4. Difference really noticeable. Much better torque & throttle response! Want to try "cage mod" now. Where is the MAF connection on Octy 105 pd tdi ENGINE?
