Fabia VRS tracking

Featured Replies

Do these cars suffer with bearing to the left. Mine does and the Dealer has told me this is a common fault.

Is this true?

I've read the same - and mine developed pull to the left after about 18months hard use...

I'd say if you are concerned then have an alignment check carried out.

Both mine (vRS) and my wife's (1.4 MPi Comfy) pull to the left, and mine's had a full 4-wheel alignment, and hers had had the tracking checked. As I mentioned in another thread, I was crawling through roadworks with an off-camber and noticed that my car was pulling slightly to the RIGHT and the wheel was settling a few degrees right of dead-ahead. I suspect the Fabia is just extremely sensitive to the camber, but whatever the reason is, "they all do it"!

Had all this checked after Skoda changed the Stearing rack, roll bar, Bushes etc.. to find a knocking noice when the car was on fall lock. All under warrenty of course!

Skoda did say there was a common fault with the cars pulling to the left, just wanted to get some views from you guys.

Thanks

mine was much improved after the cupra bushes - but an alignment showed the rear LH wheel toed-in, cambered over (?) and closer to the front than its fellow.

Short of custom shims, I'd need a new rear beam to fix it completely....

Found some further info: one site claims that 'On some FWD vehicles, the rear axle can twist over time. ' wonder if pulling to the left is the axle twisting, in which case you need summat stronger or reinforced?

see: Using Shims to Correct Wheel Alignment, Larry Carley, Brake & Front End, February 2000

Probably these rear camber shims wouldnt fit the fabia but the idea is good: Euro Sport - Adjustable Camber and Caster Adjusters (Plates, Shims and Bolts) for Volkswagen and Audi

now if someone could locate a supplier for fabias, we'd be in business....
