engine conversion

Featured Replies

hi i have a skoda felicia 1.3 mpi 1998 ® pickup and was woundering if anyone knows of a bigger engine thats easily put in etc 1.8 gti or turbo charged?? thanks

Yes... the 1.6 or the 1.9D:rofl:

Any other conversions become very difficult to do... it has been discussed before...

Although it has been done before (audi 1.8t and i think a vr6) it envolves a lot of effort and fettling with the engine bay... is it really worth it?

Why not do some mods to your current engine? Its a very good little engine... achieves 68BHP while the 1.6 only achieves an extra 7bhp more.

I believe with some work you can get these engines up around the 110bhp mark!!!

awesome did a vr6 felly years ago, went like stink by all accounts:D

the sump on the vr6 felly was about 5mm off the deck, and it is so heavy its only good for the drag strip.

What about the 1.4 Furby lump? I know it's a rebored 1.3 so won't that drop straight in?

no there are a few detail differences which dont make it a straight fit, there is a member on here who's done it though....

That will be me.

You need to change the Fabia flywheel for a felicia one, which must be re-drilled, because the Fabia crank flange has fix bolts to the felicia's four.

You also need to do something with the water pump engine mount, because simply swapping for a felicia water pump means that the WP pulley doesn't line up with the crank/alternator pulleys. I fabricated a new mount that bolts to the top of the Fabia WP, but someone suggested that using the felicia WP without an impellor and adding an electric water pump would have probably been easier (if pricier).

Cheers

The 1.8t lump will go in , JBS Auto Design have fitted one into a fun. pics are on their website

Vauxhall lumps fit....eventually.

:rubchin: tis true, i was talking to a fella in portsmouth the other day who has a redtop in his favorit estate

V nice, i know of a Ex Skoda Trophy rally car thats just been converted to wide track, and has a redtop too...!

Id much prefer the 2.0 or even 1.8 8v lump.....thats only because from working in a Vauxhall dealer for 5 years, they dont have much go wrong with them.

how the hell do you wide track a felicia?

without the kit-car rear beam, front wish bones, all 4 coil overs, drive shafts and track rods?

It has got all that, thats how!

HEHEHE

yer saw that one a few weeks ago. wish i had the money.

Nice car.

Very well built...

Not my car.

Original bits?

I thought, by your post, that you'd acquired said beast and that if you had, were you in possession of all the original parts that were replaced coz my Felly has a mystery illness & won't start so I'm now possibly going to have to replace everything piece by piece til it does start lol.

Ah! No i know who has it now....

Well with your felicia, what the problem?

Please, only for the liberal minded!

The problem is no spark, specifically, no earth return from the coil through the ECU, so the ECU isn't giving the go-ahead to cause the coil to charge & discharge; none of the sensors - swapped out the Hall, no difference, bypassed the Immob, no difference, none of the temp or pressure fuel side sensors would shut the ign down apparently (I have doubts about the manifold temp sensor, it affects the MPi unit) would cause this problem. Yet it remains.

Freekin' Ada!!! Just been quoted £530 + for a new Skoda part. :thumbdwn:

I was also advised that BBA-reman repair them. I'll check the site to see if they still exist.

Yeah try them, weve used them before...

The prices are a bit steep for them but it depends how much you value the car, thats what i say to customers.

Thanks. I phoned them; £35 for a test or £215 for test & repair + P&P. There's also a company in Ilkeston, Derbyshire called ECUTesting.com Automotive ECU suppliers and their prices are similar.

I'm actually going back to the idea of the Hall Sender, a new one may be in order as I have a 2nd hand ECU & despite bypassing the immob, that failed to work too. Two duff Halls beats two duff ECUs.

I'm putting these last few posts on my original thread.
