Favorit Immobiliser

Featured Replies

Help. Have a Favorit Estate 1995 Glxie and am having trouble with the immobiliser and need to bypass it. I have found the immobiliser box and it has a lot of black wires coming out of it. Does anyone know what I need to do to bypass it.Also when I put the red key in it puts out the light but will still not start.

If the key puts the light out, the problem may not be the immobiliser.

just to warn you,

I have heard so many bad stories regarding by-passing immobilisers,

good luck i say

When the red light is out and I turn the ignition key nothing happens but I still have electic power i.e. the lights, indicators, etc still work. Any thoughts ?

My understanding is that the immobiliser cuts out the starter motor, fuel pump, and ignition (spark).

I think I read somewhere that cutting all the wires successfully disconnects the immobiliser, but I would not want to do it without being 100% certain. Hopefully someone else here knows more than I do will reply.

I have also read somewhere of someone getting RAC to bypass it, so if you had at home cover you could call them out.

It's probably worth checking the fuses behind the ECU under a plastic cover haven't blown, and the starter motor. Also if you can hear the relay behind the ECU click when an attempt is made to start the car, I would imagine this points to the problem not being the immobiliser.

The light going off means the code on the key has been recognised and the car, erm, mobilised.

I'm pretty sure that the immobiliser cuts out the starter and ignition; not sure about the LP fuel pump (if electric).

Also slightly worried by the mention of a "red key", since on some cars this is a master key, and on others it's a "doors only" key, and using it to start the car scrambles the immobiliser!

The red key in question is the one you put into the immobiliser

The red key in question is the one you put in the immobiliser .

I'm not sure it being red is necessarily problematic. Apparently when the previous owner of mine tried to get some new immobiliser keys made (as I understand it after a garage broke the key whilst trying to *turn* it ), the new ones were red. Not sure what happened but I think the garage sent the wrong key so the keys were useless. They were done in a place in Kent but I have no idea if that place still does them, or of their address, or if you can still get them copied anywhere now.

Have now had a go at the immobiliser and disconected it. Have joined the breaks in the wires together but have a yellow wire left over which went straight into the immobiliser and I have no idea what to do with it . I have traced it and it goes into the engine somewhere. Has anybody any ideas on how to wire the ignition system together.
