sqeaking noise

Featured Replies

i have a squeaking noise coming from the front drivers side of my car ,it happen's when i pull away or go over a speedbump ect.have just had a new steering rack fitted also i was told by shi**y garage (arnold clark)it was my anti roll bar bushes, got them replacead when rack was done..not them, surprise surprise. CAR PASSED MOT TODAY:) ,but when you bounce car on outside you hear nothing. any of you nice people got any ideas.

If it's not a trim squeak, the usual suspects are ARB bushes (may need new bar if the protective coating wore through, and I'd not trust Arnold to diagnose that correctly), ARB drop links, and dry rubbers in the front wishbones.

If you're in Glasgow regularly, I've always found both Henry Bros (formerly Queensborough) and St Andrews Skoda very helpful, and reasonable priced.

thanks ken.. both queensborough and st andrews are now henrys, also ex queensborough garage is closed down ,they have moved into glasgow city centre between stuart st police station and buchanan st bus station (townhead area) think it was an old audi dealership,i'll get it checked out ,just cannot afford to put any more money out on it at the moment.

I didn't know about St Andrews, but my base when around Glasgow is in Dumbarton, so Hyndland was easy to get to, and at least the site behind Glasgow Cally is handy for the shops!

very true,no other dealers down that way.car parking always a problem in glasgow,so you have to go where you can.

If the car's going to a dealership, I expect them to provide free parking!

radiator mounts?

radiator mounts?

Funny you should mention these. I get a squeeking when the car is warm when going over potholes and when i shut the drivers door. Are the rad mounts a common thing to go then? Sorry if this is taking the question off topic.

Darren

think so

there have been quite a few threads about them over the years

I have had them replaced. try moving the rad and see if it squeeks becuase mine did and they were replaced under warrenty

my drivers seat squeaks when i go over bumps. drove me mad until i realised what it was!

find somewhere quiet and drive around with all the windows open. worked for my old car as i stuck my body out the window to locate a rattle.

i had the same problem, went to henrys in city centre (after almost going to hyndland, didnt realise they have moved!)

was under warranty, and they replaced ARB bushes and ARB without blinking.

Was put in on a friday, parts not there, but they washed the car, i put it back in the following wed, and washed again.

cant fault them for diagnosis and repair.

update... garage said that the metal hose that runs from the turbo down beside driver side suspension and wheelarch lining was loose ,and rubbing against lining and suspension,he has re -fixed it,problem solved, more shoddy work by arnold clark then! sorry i cannot remember what hose is called ,i'm sure you guys will know though

The turbo to intercooler pipe it sounds like. Unless you're working on the intake system or the timing cover, no reason I can see to disturb that.
