high kms vrs

Featured Replies

hi all. would you buy a vrs with 100k on it or would you spend 2k more for a low km car. the 100k model is on an 04 plate at £5300, but is mint. it will be my first vrs and i want to get it chipped lowered and all the rest.....but finding a nice car near lands end is proving difficult. how do these cars handle the high kms?

Can't really say, it is you who has to do the homework

100k yes definately providing it has had the cambelt changed and full service etc or you are going to have to pay an additional £1k for that when you pay £2k more already for the lower mileage car

I must admit I did not do the homework, just picked the car and bought it

yes I took the lower mileage younger car and paid £2k more only to find that I now have to fork out an additional £1k fivemonths down the line

ie:- 04 needs cambelt 40k full service, plus brakes and wheel bearing, at just under £1k

Now if I had bought the higher mileage (now almost the same) at a lower cost and all the above done by previous owner then I WOULD have been £3k better off

Homework time my friend and I am afraid I am not the one to help you other than the above advice

Are you talking 100,000 miles or kilometres? Your post seems a bit confusing...

Steve

Aye... 100k km is 62k miles, so I'd say go for it... 100k miles though... Hmm...

As above, the cambelt service is due at 60k miles so buying at this point will save you a big service for a further 60k miles. If it's not been changed, then I'd walk away personally....

As for high km's, things will start wearing out and sensors will start breaking, but there's plenty of info on here about what to look for and how to fix. :D

thanks. the car has 97000 miles on it. with full history, but decided that as i want to keep for a while and do all the mods,i will be going for a lower mile car. so the search continues, on the moped.....hope it stays dry!
