Stuff thats annoying me.....

Featured Replies

Ok folks, a couple of questions for u all.

1) Would there be ANY benifit in changing the exhaust manifold, as i know somone who will build a custon one for £150

2) How easily is it to remove and replace the headlights as i have the chance of getting some new aftermarket black with halo ones (i think they look a bit tasty )

1) yes, as long as you do the rest of the system too

2) very, should all just bolt out :)

I would be interested in a new manifold if this one of yours shows good gains etc ;)

Steve

Just make sure that the headlights are suitable for Right Hand Drive if you are in the UK!

Ive heard there cack.

i think for headlights the bumper has to come off.

where you getting those from?

I have a custom manifold done when my turbo was changed. I assume it's awesome.

Getting the lights from here SKODA TUNING SHOP for Octavia, Octavia II, Fabia, Roomster, Superb, Felicia : Skoda Tuning = superskoda.com

The exhaust has no centre box so it just a straight pipe to the back box, which has been modded internally ;) lol The guy i go to does all the exhausts for "ayrshire Scoobies" His downpipes and exhausts have been proven to produce up to 45bhp on Impreaza's!! Interesting to see what he could do with mine......

Presumably that's because the Impreza exhaust is pretty restrictive and contains two cats :D Ours dyno'd at 251bhp (allegedly on an accurate rolling road ) with just a panel filter and full turbo back decat exhaust. I don't think you'll see such big gains on a diesel - maybe 10-15bhp tops...

Yeah, what i know is that the downpipe into the Impreza turbo is NOT opened fully, whereas his uses the whole opening of the turbo. Loadsa people have been impressed with his work. I'd be happy with 10-15bhp increase (i'm running a Dragon box, piper X panel filter and a modded cold air pipe) or even a slightly faster and smoother turbo spool up or longer hold of boost. In other words if it makes it MORE of a weapon i'd be happy!!!:thumbup::thumbup:

One other daft question.....where would be the best pipe to connect a little boost gauge?

Worth reading up on boost spikes as I believe a couple of members have hit these when replacing the downpipe (could be wrong though :D)

Was reliably informed that removing the cat gives alot of problems (i.e engine rebuilds or new turbos........i wonder who thats happend to??? lol) Any info on any spiking probs would be useful

exhaust manifold is integral to the turbo AFAIK- you can port it tho'.

Apart from getting one made to suit the bigger non-hybrid VT20 (made by welding on a mounting flange to a cut-off OEM exhaust) don't think you can get a purely uprated exhaust manifold.

I may be wrong here - guys?

Sorry Basil mate, i have no idea what you mean lol i'm a bit thick when it comes to part numbers n stuff lol. Its a standard turbo with a custom manifold i'm looking into. Just want to know what it'll increase and if i'll blow anything up lol lol
