Favorit Strange Noise - anyone?

Featured Replies

Hello,

I am new to this forum.

I bought a 1993 Skoda Favorit very recently and I used it nearly once a week in very good weather.

Yesterday I drove for some time in the rain and a noise appeared. You hear it mostly on first gear coming from in front. It's a sort of a squeaking noise but the clutch pedal vibrates slightly as well.

On second gear and higher gears, the noise diminished greatly but the clutch pedal still vibrates a bit (not much).

Is this normal after rain? I used it today in sunny weather, the noise has faded a bit but it's still a bit present.... and bugging me as well.

Regards

the clutch cable might be adjusted a bit too much , and putting a bit of pressure on the release bearing. try backing the adjuster nut off a couple of turns

thx for ur reply. shortly after that msg... i went out with it and didnt make it to destination... when the engine is turned ON, the gears wont get in place... they just wont engage. when d engine is off... no problem. the clutch, according to my short external inspection, is doing its job though

off to the mechanic tomorrow! :(

Sounds like the alternator belt to me. Nice easy fix :)

The gearbox is another matter though. It sounds like the cable needs adjusting.

I don't think the alternator belt would make the clutch pedal vibrate as that's the other side of the engine bay. My bet is on clutch or gearbox.
